Drawing on military training and some liquid courage, the 24-year-old university student and North Dakota National Guard staff sergeant jumped to his feet and grabbed the man. ... David James, a Navy Reservist from Jacksonville, Fla., and brothers Robert and Paul Ura, both special agents with the Florida Department of Law Enforcement. The perp surely picked the wrong place and time. I do believe the men are heroic but I also, thankfully, believe their training kicked in big time.

Nerver bring a knife to a gunfight.
Never bring a gun to a fight with a US Veteran.

Thank God there was a Soldier present! (and a few good citizens)
The cops—weighted down w/PC rules, etc.—would have roped off the city and called their militarized swat teams in for another million$$$$$ operation and who knows w/what results.

Actually, I think a comparison can be made ...
Niether our guys in Iraq nor on the southern border can do their jobs properly because of governmental restrictions ... inhibitions, if you will ... so the case might be made that if you take away from a trained man, all of his inhibitions, he'll do the job he's trained for ... swiftly, completely and with precision.

Apparently, SGT. Lampert was a standout in Iraq as well, earning the Bronze Star for pulling a fellow Soldier from a burning vehicle while under attack.

I like that idea....comps for life for saving lives.....
Very American.... And this is an example of the the real Americans who live and die here...and the dems who dishonor our country dishornor not only those good people like we meet here, but the dream that everyone who comes to America has.....
It is pathetic to think there are no Loyal American Democrats who would stand up, and maybe risk their lives and take their party back from the nut fringes who have stolen it

The gun fell to the ground and Lampert put him in a choke hold. Soon three more men ran over to help subdue the gunman until security and police arrived. I wonder how long this took!
Once again, the average citizan needs to be able to defend himself, not depend on law enforcement.

I’d like to have done what he did and said what he said. He manages to do something quite heroic and still be the anti-hero.

Maybe criminals wouldn’t behave as they do if they knew their comeuppance would be swift, unconcerned about their feelings, and humiliating.

I tell you lately I’ve been noticing this stuff - ordinary civilians going after perps even when they have guns - happens a lot more than I’d thought. In the last two weeks there were a couple of them in Salt Lake City.
