Hi everyone!
I haven’t been posting much on FR in the past 2 months or so. Since becoming unemployed, I spend much less time on the computer. At work, I would have down time and I would check FR from time to time (which is sort of a no-no, I suppose, but everyone at work surfs the Internet, so oh well).
Now that I am not working, I only really use the computer to check e-mail and search for jobs. In the meantime, I have been riding my bicycle more often. I am really only half as fast as the guys on TV, but it is fun.
Tonight I went out and did the 5 miles (same distance roughly as today’s prologue) in just under 19 minutes. This of course, was on an aluminum road race bike without aero bars, disc wheels, and I was without an aerodynamic skinsuit, cycling shoes, and funny pointy helmet; rather, I was wearing a cheap bike helmet and exercise clothes (someday, I will invest in an actual bicycle jersey, shorts, and shoes with fancy clipless pedals, but the money is tight right now). Not to mention that the course I took wasn’t barricaded, and there were cars and stop lights and stop signs to deal with.
Anyway, fun times.
PS - I am not planning to ride the roughly 100 miles that the guys will be riding tomorrow. I’d have to be nuts. I’d go about a third of that distance and then I’d die.
Hey everyone! I missed the first day today b/c we were traveling. I saw the first few riders finish - Carpets was ahead when we left. We’re here for 15 days so I guess I am going to have to try and catch Tour coverage at ridiculous times (we are on Maui). I did Tivo it, though, so I will be glued to the set when I get home!
Missed you guys! It’s been a long year for cycling!
