Yes, taken from the story of the “Rape of Europa”. How about this— there is a statue at the UN bldg called the “Statue to Peace.” It is a statue of a man on a white horse with a laurel crown and a bow but no arrows, exactly what is mentioned about the Rider on the White Horse in the Bible. Apparently God gave the prophets visions of our times. We’re the place/time to be! It’s an exciting time to be alive, but also very dangerous if you have no spiritual clue.
People have this view of Heaven as being this pristine and beautiful place with little babies playing harps, but if you were able to peel back the veil of space and peer into Heaven you’d see a war, and 1/3 of the participants are like Charles Manson. You’d scream. The Hollywood picture of Satan is some slick guy like Al Pacino and he’s all pretty and wears a suit, in real life, he’s more like Jeffrey Dahmer.
There is no such thing as “chance”. To suggest otherwise is to deny God’s soveriegnty.
Praise God! It’s great to see His plans for us unfold in the most unlikely of circumstances!
>>Would this theology border on Calvinism?<<
It IS Calvinism, yes. The Reformations’ Canons of Dort, given in response to the Arminian positions of freewill salvation.
>>Free will is biblical<<
Then by all means show me scriptural examples of people “making a choice” to follow God. Paul? James? John? Anyone in the entire book of Acts? (”And all who were appointed to salvation received”, etc) In EVERY case - repentance follows belief. It is never the other way around.
>>What type of love is the kind that is mandated.<<
Everything God does is for his own glory. That includes creating us and bringing us to salvation. We are made to bring him glory - that’s it.
>>to invite the Holy Spirit<<
Again, that suggests that God is somehow limited, and can be stymied by sinful man’s attempts. You are incorrect. Please refer back to the link I originally posted and search the scriptures with an open heart. Let go of your ego and embrace the fact that if you are indeed in Christ, it is not through any doing of your own. God made the first move, and you responded.
>>Also, scriptures tell us that not even the Son knows the hour in which he will return.<<
And your point is?
Then the rich man must have been kidding when he was begging for a drop of water, saying he was “in agony in this place”...
And the references to the “lake of fire” in Revelation must be incorrect...
And the use of the word Gehenna must be incorrect..
With a handle like that, I'm pretty confident that I could kick his ass.
Excellent explanation.
Foreknowledge, and yet our autonomy, can be a difficult concept to grasp.
Have you lifted my where/when designations for your own uses now, timer?
I think it’s a great world to live in, and I’m thankful daily, besides, I certainly feel like I can decide. So I see no problem.
Good enough for what? I believe we are all as God wants us to be.
I don’t believe we can screw up God’s plan. I don’t worry about it either, I just give thanks for what I’ve got, and how He made me.
I disagree.
Good luck with that.
