So, is a number issued in the hospital now??

No. Most people apply for a child's card as soon as they get the birth certificate. The child is not required to have one but it is required to claim your child as a dependent on your income tax return. Also should you wish to open a bank account for the child; buy savings bonds for the child; obtain medical coverage for the child; apply for government services for the child; obtain a passport; or enter the child in school (some states) a SS card is required.

We are so conditioned by the idea of Freewill that we think we actually have a choice that God depends on.

If there were no free will, there would be no immorality in God just snapping his fingers and erasing all of us and starting over. He created creatures with free will, which is precisely why he can't snuff them out (without proper judgement) and still be a just God.

Of course we all have free will, and God probably sees or knows the future, but He can't take that away from us - if he does we're no more than God's ant farm.

About 1/3 of TOS are excellent and 1/3 are great in an escapist fun way. 1/3 leave some to be desired.

About 1/20th of TNG are great - maybe 1 or 2 eps a season. Much of the rest is forgettable and the series quickly devolved into self parody. In fact, if you watch any first season eps, it’s amazing they came back for a second season (and beyond).

Enterprise was mind blowingly bad - ill conceived and profoundly boring.

Picard realizing ‘metaphor’ always makes me laugh!

Many things are self-evident....such as the temper tantrums of infants and toddlers.

This, in itself, is self-evident that we are not puppets....even from birth.

The numbers sound great, but they really can’t prove we have freewill...it’s still just a mater of belief.

Then how do you know you have freewill?

Because God tells me this.

See my 186 post. The odds of you choosing Tahiti are X, the odds of what you eat based on what you like are X, the odds of how you shop for gas are based on X. You DNA code directs 1/2 of your behavior at conception. The rest is the variables (weather, people, animals etc.) which we cannot control. But that is what freewill means, at least with people. The perspective from God’s point of view is that you had a 99% chance of going to Tahiti, eating fluffernutters and using a car on your travel. It is still my decision to buck the variables (predictions) and I could choose to go to Mexico, eat nachos and stare at the sunset from a boat.

If, as you say, God, being sovereign, omnipotent, and omniscient, creates us, knowing what each of us is going to do and knows how it is all going to turn out, where is the freewill? Don’t we have to do as He has planned for us? How do you know you could have made different choices?

We don't have to do anything, we have freewill.

It would appear then, that self-evidence is an individual thing.

I do not believe we really have freewill. I believe God has a plan for each of us, and we can only do as He has planned.

Question: Would you want someone to be forced to love you?

Yeah, agreed; I support the Pope on the EU thing. Wish he could be more successful on that.

Europe is turning its back on its own history.

G.K. Chesterton said something about a European Union that believes in nothing will fall for everything, or suchlike. If they ain't Christian, they fall for Islam. Yuck.

I did not say we did not have freewill. We do, but within the confines of sinful nature.

You are over allegorizing what is a very specific prophecy and a very specific calculation, the Bible is very specific as to what happens to those who take the mark...it is not specific as to what happens to those who don’t take the mark but yet still survive to HIS GLORIOUS APPEARING. The “book of life” judgment doesn’t occur for a millenia or so after the Beast is destroyed and Satan who has been chained, is “loosed for a season”. Another words, after Armegeddon, it aint over yet!
