An Irish union racketeer named Danny Greene tried to wrestle control of organized crime in Cleveland from Licavoli, with the help of mob henchman John Nardi. Licavoli, however, was in no hurry to leave. A car bomb killed Nardi outside the Teamster Hall on May 17, 1977. Another one snuffed out Greene in October that year; his left arm was found 100 feet from the rest of his body. All These years I remembered Danny going boom the morning I left for indocrtination into the navy, but that was feb 79. Must have been a different racketeer that went boom! Its hard to keep em all straight back there.

Well, some of the names stand out in Cleveland history. I remember names like Dimora, Danny Green, Palladino, and Kovacic. I am a bit surprised that the Mafia was the only party interested in the death of Kucinich. He really screwed up Cleveland during his tenure as mayor. Lots of major companies moved their headquarters out of the city as a result.
I would not have shed a tear if they'd have succeeded.

Unless you're talking about the hit on Nardi, over on W. 25th Street......I went to high school with Nardi's nephew. Apparently, he's now head of the Teamsters in Cleveland. Nice kid though, if a bit misguided politically.
