Google does a special celebration logo for St Patricks day (Ireland) and St Davids day (Wales) but not for St Georges day (England) because the cross of St George as well as being the English national flag, is also the flag of the crusades and Google is afraid it might offend it’s muslim users, who are presumably searching for ‘bomb-making’, ‘beheading advice’ or ‘national wife-beating day’. :(

Google always celebrate Independence Day. What it doesn’t elebrate is Memorial Day.

As I said at the time, I don't blame them for that. Make the doodle too cute, and you don't have enough respect for veterans; too somber, and you're accused of an anti-war protest.
