"Show me just what Mohammed brought that was new, and there you will find things only evil and inhuman, such as his command to spread by the sword the faith he preached." - Manuel II Palelologus
I just bought two small US flags for my motorhome at WalMart - made in the USA. Perhaps the only thing in WalMart that is.
Comes the Gulf War (1991) every Burger King or Osco Drug was selling US flags, but I could not get any from my supplier.
Didn't try to get any from overseas, but never did business with that supplier again either.
The second-to-last flag I bought flew less than 24 hours before tearing half off. Sure enough: Made in China. I never even thought to look.
I do now.
This is meaningless. Freedom (of which free trade is a part) is the bedrock of our nation. The business of America is business. If some entrepreneur in another country can manufacture American flags at a competitive rate, all power to him/her.
We do have to pass such laws; the greedy executive class will import anything to make an few extra $$$$’s..
Remember when Wal-mart used to market, “made in the USA”?
Interesting. And who buys these lower priced products from the “greedy executive class”? Could it be the cheap money grubbing working class?
Two points.
1). Flags should be made at home.
2). There shouldn’t be a law preventing people from buying a flag made anywhere they like.
Honestly. Does a state have the power to say, and pass judicial muster, "no products from X may be sold in this state."
Darn good move!
Take shoes. There are no USA shoes on the shelves. So what are the unwashed masses to do, go barefoot?
Red Wing Shoes (redwingshoes.com)
Men’s and Women’s Work Shoes and Work Boots
Redwing shoes all made in USA. Every shoe that says Redwing on it is made in USA. Redwing sells Chinese shoes under the Irish Setter, Vasque, and Worx Brand names.
Be sure to read the brand name and get shoes made in the USA.
At one point there was a manufacturer from the U.S. and from overseas. The average American picked the cheaper shoe...sorry.
Sort of off-topic...the last flag I ordered was a Polish Solidarity flag. I ended up with a flag for American Samoa. Didn’t send it back, though. Not sure what to do with it.
Flag prices are too high. No flag gouging allowed!
Coming up next: GOOGLE IS NOT HONORING INDEPENDENCE DAY!
Question shouldn’t be the law. Question should be, what is the over/under in days until the ACLU gets involved and forces all flags being flown in America to be made in China?
