FORT WORTH, Texas: Anti-war activist Cindy Sheehan will return to her protest site near President George W. Bush's Texas ranch this weekend to bid farewell to the peace movement.
Sheehan will sell some camping items, gather with friends from previous demonstrations and celebrate her 50th birthday in Crawford, about 100 miles (160 kilometers) south of Fort Worth. Then she will hand over the deed of her 5-acre (2-hectare) lot to its new owner, radio talk-show host Bree Walker.
"I'm feeling like it was the right decision for me. I feel like it was the best thing to do," Sheehan told The Associated Press on Tuesday by telephone en route to Texas.
She told the AP that she wanted to spend more time with her three children and that she wanted to change course.
Sheehan said Tuesday that she is asking people to join her in a 10-day walk from Atlanta to Washington, D.C., starting July 13 for a "people's accountability movement." On her blog, she said Bush's commuting the prison sentence of former vice presidential aide I. Lewis "Scooter" Libby was "the straw that broke my camel's back of exhausted ennui."
"I tried to remove myself from the political realm of the U.S., what BushCo is turning into an Evil Empire, but the blatant audacity of George commuting Scooter's sentence ... has dragged me kicking and screaming back in," she wrote.
Sheehan, who turns 50 next week, will sell camping equipment and other items from the site now known as "Camp Casey." Sheehan said she plans to keep some of the personal mementos, such as the large painting of her son.

You’d be walking in the dark part of each day.
GACK! Before and After--in one picture
She has more going away concerts than Babs Streisand.
I sure hope the weather is hot and the road is all uphill for Cindy.
I cant imagine why the Scooter Libby commutation would fire her up so.
I think maybe it was the first thing she could grab on to.
Let’s see......650 miles in 10 days = 65 miles a day @ 4/5 mph = 13/16 hours a day of walking. And she’s 50 and (according to her) not in the best of health. Nope, can’t be done - especially in the deep south in the fat of summer.
He probably sucked the air out of the whole hangar.
She looks like a dump fire that was put out with a rake. :D
Well, he SUCKED!
Correct that verb tense: He SUCKS!
:-\
Who loves ya baby!
(pretending to drive a car) ♪"Up on the sidewalk, pfft pfft pfft!"♪
I’m not sure there’s anybody on the planet who could do 650 miles in 10 days on foot. It would be quite a workout on a bike, for that matter.
I wonder if this is going to be like the fast where she had the protein smoothies and then quit after less than a week. I’m thinking that this is going to be very very hot. hehe
rode hard, put away wet.
She's yesterday's news, especially after she said she was finished with the anti-war schtick. Her leftist puppet masters have more than likely dropped her like the one-hit wonder she is and moved on to The Next Big Thing (Global Warming® is a left-wing growth industry these days), which means she's going to solo for a while before she heads off to some anonymous trailer park and days filled with long pulls off the plastic Economy Size vodka bottle (EZ-Pour spout removed so she doesn't chip her teeth).
Pelosi on the left (naturally) @ 72 years old and Sheehan on the right about to turn 50. You'd think the numbers should be reversed as Sheehan looks 72. I know I know Pelosi's not 72, she's pushing 90...
Okay, it turns out the world record for 1000 miles is 12 days, 20 hours; so there are a few people out there who can do 650 miles in 10 days.
However, I bet the above record wasn’t set in the American South during July!
Her last 100 miles are bought and paid for on the blood of 400,000 young men like Casey. That stretch was a Union slaughterhouse.
God, she is so desperate to stay in the news.
In that picture, Sheehan looks like the host of America’s Funniest Home Videos with a wig on.
And yet, still a long ways from being a 'grown up'.
I guess the attention whore couldn't stand her month out of the limelight.
This might be an appropriate thread for that media whore photo of yours.
