Iranian unit killed our troops in Iraq, says US

A secret force attached to Iran's Revolutionary Guard carried out a sophisticated attack which killed five American soldiers in Iraq, the US claimed yesterday.
For the first time, America laid out evidence allegedly showing an Iranian hand behind a specific assault. In the past, Britain and America have only made general accusations of Iranian support for insurgents.
Teheran has vigorously denied the charges.
But Gen Kevin Bergner, a US military spokesman, set out in detail what he called Iran's responsibility for an attack in the Shia holy city of Karbala in January.
The assault was, he said, carried out by the Quds Force, a paramilitary unit affiliated to the Revolutionary Guard.
Gunmen who spoke English and wore US-style uniforms talked their way through a number of checkpoints and penetrated a government compound in Karbala. Once inside, they killed one US soldier and captured four others, all of whom were later killed.
"The Quds Force had developed detailed information regarding our soldiers' activities, shift changes and defences, and this information was shared with the attackers," said Gen Bergner.
The source for this claim, he added, was a Hizbollah fighter who was captured by coalition forces in southern Iraq.
Iran's defence minister, Mustapha Mohammed Najjar, said the US accusations were "sheer lies".
why are we waiting ?
Let’s be perfectly honest here.
The purpose of International Law is to provice an ethical framework for the killing of Americans and anyone who allies themselves with America.
International law has no moral credibility left.
Bush is getting approval from Putin?
Imad mugniyah? Not captured but no doubt involved.
Apparently this administration has not yet determined if Iran is with us or against us.
Obvious to the casual observer, other than the UN and its appeasing gallery of tyrants and villains and enemies of freedom.
So we wait and wait. Give a 2 carrier force two weeks and we could wash our hands of this belligerent. IS THIS NOT AN ACT OF WAR? Am I mad??
You’ve pretty much hit it.
Time to kill the mullahs.
Who needs to go *in*. I'll settle for going over with a few (dozen) of these.
Maybe with a few of these to take care of the "ants" when they scatter.
Pootie won’t approve of it...
Iran is guilty of attacking the US.
A very good question, for which there had better be an *excellent* answer.
Otherwise the whole world will know our President, and by implication the rest of us, lost our cojones somewhere along the line.
(The DemonRats lost theirs many decades ago).
We might as well just surrender now, declare Dhimmitude and be done with it.
Let’s nuke Iran..........yesterday! One American life is worth more than all of that Islamofascist crazed country!
I thought we proved conclusively that the paper tiger routine means nothing to anyone around the world. Any time there is an attack against our service members, the response should be swift and overwhelming.
If this is a case of us being unsure, it shouldn’t have been released. If we’re releasing it, it should be absolutely confirmed that the unit’s base is gone, leveled. Make it absolutely clear that if there is any further attacks, those bases will be leveled.
There is no military in the world that cares to go toe to toe with us, and few who would survive a few hours of engagement. If they want to fight a war over us leveling the base of a terrorist group, that’s fine.
Your reputation is in the toilet, GW-—GO FOR IT!!!!
I do like all of those planes! They could drop a bunch of hurt on them. :o) I'm hoping that's why we've got all of those aircraft carries over there now.
That's why I said no ground troops. Just take out all their military and nuclear facilities.
Well jorge is already double triple mad, what more do you want. "sac off"
From the viewpoint of the rest of the world, however, Iran would not be killing U. S. soldiers if they were not in Iraq, and this argument will be used to place the blame on America.
