The immigration debate: Xenophobia beneath it all(FR mentioned)
HERALD NEWS ^ | 07/02/07 | ROGER HERNANDEZ

A supposed letter to the editor making the rounds of the Internet (credited to various authors at different Web sites, including "Albert V. Burns," "Rosemary LaBonte" and "Ann Marie Coviello") compares today's immigrants (bad) with the immigrants of yesteryear (good)

Snip

It explains why a poster at FreeRepublic.com inserted the face of Rudy Giuliani in what looks to be an old movie still of a sombrero-wearing bandito and added the caption "Borders? Borders? We don' need no steenking borders." It explains why Giuliani has backed off the pro-immigrant stance he had when mayor of New York City.

And it explains why even some of the most conservative Hispanics realize that all the posturing about illegal immigrants is really an attack aimed at everybody whose name ends in "ez."

Every white bourgeois liberal, every Hollywood wacko, and Democrat plantation owner spouting their open boarder crap and love for the illegal immigrant should have these people put in their neighborhoods, flooding their hospitals, prisons, schools, and when they go somewhere, they should go to stores where the language is Spanish.

Liberals and the Hollywood crowd are always the same. They always like ideas as long as “they” are not affected.

They are against capital punishment until it’s their family that is murdered.

They are for the legalization of drugs, but don’t want their kid taking them.

They think prostitution should be legal, but don’t want their daughter working as one.

They are for more taxes and think Robin Hood policies are great, except when it’s them being taxed.

They advertise gun control, but like their guns and even hire body guards.

They want everyone to be energy efficient and green, but fly their jets and live in 20,000 square foot homes.

The want social medicine for all, but like their private doctors and hospitals.

So, in order to help these open minded, educated, inclusive, and progressive individuals better understand the nature of the issue at hand, they should live in communities plagued by problems due to illegal immigration, or they should stop working their several hundred thousand dollar a year job and compete for a job as an American in a lower wage job where in some areas and industries the onslaught of illegals (12 million) has pushed wages down. But then again, the liberal mind does not worry about that. They just pass a bogus minimum wage hike, and while they in reality undermine those "Americans" in the lower socio economic rungs, they manage to pander to both the Hispanic AND poor simultaneously with open boarders and minimum wage hikes, at least in appearance. Because those poor Americans deemed the "working poor" which the Democrats so much want to appear the champion of are in reality plantation workers, and a steady flow of cheap labor, even if illegal ensures it stays that way. The irony is, that many of the poor are also uneducated and they are easily kept on their plantation and appeased with make belief efforts intended to demonstrate some love for them, like a minimum wage hike.

The program I propose is called "adopt a liberal". In this program a white suburban liberal must go to a run down community crushed economically from the flood of illegals and ridden with crime. They should be placed in this community, forced to live there and work there in a menial job competing against illegals willing to work at under minimum wage, they should send their kids to schools where English is a second language and go to an ER like at Parkland Memorial Hospital (Dallas TX) where the average wait is 22 hours for a non critical visit. They should live, eat, work, in this community until they better understand what the real issue is. Then they can go back to their suburb in Oregon, New Hampshire or even the great state of Massachusetts and better talk about the issue from an "American" perspective, not the one of an "illegal alien NON-American".

No, i’m so ticked off at all the illegals no matter where they came from because they forced me to either become an illegal contractor violating all the tax, wage, and insurance laws or go out of business.

I closed my business in 1992 and now my earnings are 1/3 of what they were.

If we are so Xenophobic, how come they all want to break in here and lower our wages and swamp us? They just want to come here because they want to take our money and land.

""Thanks!"Your welcome!

Seen it have you? Bogart was a mans actor like John Wayne, not pretty but hey, we just like tough guys.

Does this one ring a bell?

"I'm gonna use good judgment. I haven't lost my temper in 40 years. But, pilgrim, you caused a lot of trouble this morning. Might have got somebody killed and somebody ought to belt you in the mouth, but I won't. I won't. The hell I won't!"

That is a lie. In fact, I know a certain feller who was pushing for RICO lawsuits for employers of illegal aliens to address the problem at its source. His name is Robert Vasquez.

And last year, Vasquez tried to bill the Mexican government $2 million for reimbursement of jail and medical treatment costs he claimed the county provided to Mexican citizens.

That one failed. Pity.

If China decided to ship a half billion of its poorest and least educated citizens to Mexico, would xenophobia be behind any opposition to it?

Sorry to hear about that.

The people who are not affected by this issue,(Rich Hollywood types, politicians and states far from the border) could get a crap.
Unless they face the same problems in places where communities are being overrun nothing will ever change their opinion.

Not going to happen, they need them to manufacture poisonous pet food, defective tires and pickles with industrial wax.

What Roosevelt said then was intended as a warning; he was tapping into xenophobic anxieties that saw the immigrants of yesteryear as a malignant force that rejected assimilation and spoke a language that was not English.

Nothing of the sort happened. The children of those immigrants became Americans.

There is one teensy tiny thing that this moonbat forgot about: in 1919, there was no Social Security. Or Medicare, TANF, food stamps, Section 8 housing, Pell grants, Stafford and Perkins Loans, reduced or free school lunches, either.

A house divided can not stand for very long, especially when it's Balkanized and its members are pitted against each other in a fight to get the most benefits.

Yet that is the "grand delusion" that our "enlightened" moonbats, Senators, President, and Congress critters want us to believe. It's a delusion that they think we are stupid enough to accept without protest.

Folks like this clueless writer and Marxist wannabe are the reason why folks like my dad (a legal immigrant who grew up under Communism in Romania) are so jaded and cynical now.

Instead of a fence put jails all along the border and arrest every one of them stick them in jail and keep them there at least that will keep them and their drugs where they belong, jail.

ROGER HERNANDEZ:

By accusing American Patriots of xenophobia (and by default of racism, nativism and bigotry), you have... by the very nature of liberalism, proved beyond doubt that you are what it is that you try to project upon us. We are concerned and informed citizens... we are concerned about laws being violated, established borders being ignored, Border Agents being assaulted for trying to protect the sovereignty of that border (and in some cases injured seriously and/or killed) and our graciousness being spit upon in violent protests inside OUR Nation and then awarding Amnesty to this bunch of illegal invaders, violators of our sovereignty, criminal trespassers who protest against our laws and tear at the very fabric of our Society... THE AMERICAN SOCIETY!

FIVE people in my local area have either been murdered outright by illegals or killed by them in auto accidents... driving without a license, illegally in this NATION, and without any insurance. Until they kill someone... the local police release them on minimal bail.

You, Mr. Hernandez... are an enabler of this type of violence... violence that would not have taken place if it had not been for these people being in this country... in violation of both US and International laws.

LLS

If Roger ain’t got the balls to go take back Cuba from Fidel, then what makes him think he has the balls to take my country from me.

And Cubans are usually so snotty about lower caste latinos like Mexicans and Guats

If Hernandez thinks the picture is xenophobic, he should blame John Huston, who made the movie.
