No, he couldn't have. Like I said, the POTUS is not a dictator - he cannot dictate to the DOJ - it's one of those checks and balances things - you may have heard about???

Right now, Gonzales is on the verge of losing his job because the DOJ appears to have fired prosecutors for failing to go after democrats, even though the prosecutors are hired at will. And you think the POTUS should have interfered in the prosecution of Sandy Burglar? No way. That would have been completely unethical.
