Hours after the Senate voted against advancing the immigration reform project, the Mexican activist Elvira Arellano announced a campaign of resistance against the U.S. government.
In a written statement, the leader of the movement Familia Unida (United Family) said that if the Democrats and the Republicans cannot summon the courage to fix the broken law we will not sit quietly and see our families and our children cut to pieces on the broken pieces of that broken law.
She demanded an immediate moratorium on all raids and deportations.
Arellano, who has remained in a Northwest Side church since August 15 to avoid an order of deportation, said this would be the deadline the government will have to revive and pass a comprehensive immigration reform. Otherwise, pro-immigrant organizers will begin a campaign aimed at bringing this government and this economy to a halt.
Representatives from the Centro Sin Fronteras and the Illinois Coalition for Immigrant and Refugee Rights also announced this morning they were prepared to take economic actions against corporations that support anti immigrant legislators and programming.
Also, a massive concentration of families and children is scheduled for July 17 in Washington D.C. to confront the leaders of both parties and the President.

Elvira Arellano is an Aztlan activist who believes that “indigenous people” should be free to live anywhere in North America. That white Europeans are illegitimate occupiers of this continent
There is a couple somewhere that is holed up in their home after being convicted of not paying income taxes. I suggest that they leave and go to this church where this illegal is who also does not pay income taxes. They would apparently be “safe” and “protected” there in that church. /sarcasm off
That church is knowingly and willingly breaking federal immigration laws. In doing so, they should immediately lose their tax exempt status.

Israel, Britain...(LOL)
I'm for the Golden Rule. Foreign citizens, especially those illegally here, should get the same treatment U. S. citizens get in their country. Start with Mexico.
Wonder how Mexico would support an invasion of US citizens demanding they give us more rights than their own citizens?
These people NEED to be deported and considered criminals.
This includes TOMMY.
Might be a good place for ICE to park a few buses.
Correct. Lock and load.
We need to get ready with the dialing for representation fingers again. These illegal residents do not yet own this country.
I sure wish they would go home. We don’t want them here unless they are legal.
Give this woman the Elian Gonzalez treatment. Or would that not be “compassionate”?
I can’t take it anymore.
“...a massive concentration of families and children is scheduled for July 17 in Washington D.C.”
GOOD! They will all be in one place — arrest and deport them all!! Have the buses ready — load them up — head to the Mexican border and dump them out!
The law, by itself, is not "broken". Illegals "break" the law by violating its requirements. The "government" is broken.
Fix the government and the law will fix itself.
Sounds more like France during WWII. Just replace Mexican with German.
Can they “resist” back in their home countries, get in line at the US Embassy like LEGAL immigrants do, etc.?
Good, they will all be there. All our government has to do is round them up and deport them immediately.
I can’t work without paying taxes, yet somehow 12 million illegals can work without any problems at all.
#1 Close the border. Not that hard to do. Cut illegal crossing to less than 1000 a month. For less than $2billion a year, you could station a border agent every 100 yards on the border.
#2 Make employers validate employee’s SSN’s. Enforce the law that makes it illegal to knowingly employ an illegal.
#3 Anyone without a valid visa gets deported instantly when caught for violating any law.
#4 Make non-citizen ID’s clearly indicate that they are not citizens and require the police to check for a valid visa if they are stopped for any reason.
#5 Put a moratorium on legal immigration from Mexico until the number of illegals falls to near zero.
#6 Look at increasing legal immigration from around the world based on OUR needs and THEIR abilities.
They are constantly vulnerable to public anger exacerbated by the strains on schools and community services and other points of frictions.
Because they are "illegal," government at all levels can crack down on them whenever the citizens demand it.
If they had been made legal, they would have instantly become -- citizenship or not -- just like you and me.
(I just wish we could do something about the anchor baby problem.)
They also need to know anything they have while illegally in the United States is strictly out of America’s benevolence, not because we owe them anything beyond jail time and deportation.
