Early tonight on Coast to Coast, Art announced he is retiring. Presumably to spend more time with his wife and new daughter.
While there is the standard mundane crew who break out the tin foil hat jokes (they don't even break out the tin foil, just the jokes), I have been listening to Art for many years and feel that some kind of outlet for the type of material and people he interviews is needed. It only takes one of the tens of thousands of sighting of UFO's to be a REAL UFO to change the world. So to be fair we need to wish him well. His place in broadcasting history is secured. I hope he maintains some influence in C2C.
We know what we know. But we don't know what we don't know!
Art Bell moved back when his new wife became pregnant.
I thought he was disingenuous to move to the Philippines in the first place.
Not that I have anything against PI, but with his GW/Quickening ad nauseum promotion, I figured the last place he'd want to live is an active volcanic island on the Pacific 'Ring of Fire' in the middle of a big ocean that has frequent massive storms and tsunamis.
Oh, and 'Rising Sea Levels', if you believe Art.
Throw in the TROP problem for good measure.
I'm guessing that C2CAM numbers have been dropping. I haven't been listening as much, with or without Art.
The show has been distinctly anti-American for a long time, paranoid government conspiracies excepted, with their selections of news and guests.
And the constant Bush-bashing got old fast. The least they can do is bash Bush over real missteps, not exclusively what the DNC tells them to.
Maybe Art's afraid of what Phil Hendrie's new show is going to do to the franchise.
More likely, Bell's love of isolation is being invaded by his new in-laws, and not even his home studio offers respite.
I think this is the third time he has retired now.
Art moved to the Philippines, IMHO, to stay with his new wife for six months so he could direct petition her for a US visa in-country. The other route is to wait for 11 months to get a fiance’ visa, or even longer for a “wife” visa. He made the smart move considering his situation.
Now please excuse me, I have to go and remote view my way to work.
I sleep with the radio on and I get really tired of C2C, especially Noory. He's a moron.
I am glad. Since he came back this time he has become progressively more negative. Every weekend it has been a long winded rant about global warming and how we are all going to die. I had stop listening on the days he was on. I hope Ian will be the one to take his place.
Any word on the rumor that Ron Paul will take over his seat?
Just askin....
I have heard no updates on him. I think however the son may have been a stepchild, possibly from Ramona's first marriage. I say that only because Art has stated repeatedly his daughter Asia is his only child. That whole situation with the son was so tragic and I have often wondered about him too.
Retiring from two days a week wow he really works hard!
He moves the program to the philippines he moves it back to the states.
He has retired umteen times a very restless man.
He is not too stable is he?
He a man who wants his cake and eat it too!
That's probably why Coast was a hit for so long. Something to take your mind off reality. But looking at Bush and Congress, they stopped living in the real world a while ago.
So, why look for escape in fantasy, when the politics provides such fantasy now, you want to escape back to reality?
I see sNoory's been reorganizing the deck chairs, trying out format changes. Good luck to him. About the only time I'll listen or record for later listening, is when I see they have a decent guest or topic.
It doesn't happen too often.
I thought his wife just died. Is this a new one?
Art's second wife (Ramona) died Jan. 5, 2006. Art was totally devastated for approximately four months. Then he married Airyn Ruiz (young enough to be his grand-daughter) on April 11, 2006.

What is this, his third or fourth time?
Damn. He “retires” as often as Barbra Streisand or the Rolling Stones.

Bring Back the Babe in the Bunker!

Again?
I prefer listening to George Noory anyway, Art on the weekends just doesn’t have the same spark he used to.
