It is thought the car they were driving flashed up on a number plate recognition camera, which alerted cops to their whereabouts.

I've been out of touch awhile.....Do we have this capability in the States......? Anybody know..?

Yes, but it isnt as widespread. Cars leaving the US to Mexico are recorded, and some police agencies have license plate readers installed...but it isnt widespread yet.

The 9-11 terrorists were, by and large, well-educated and from parents who were not "poor".

Kind of reminds me of the 60's and 70's when the Weathermen in this country were our own home-grown domestic terrorists. Many of them (both guys and girls) were not only well-to-do, they were trust fund kids.

There have been many cases in Israel of highly educated and financially successful suicide bombers including doctors. Of course the MSM quickly forgets that, and goes back the myth of the roots of fanaticism being in poverty, lack of opportunity, racism, etc., etc.
