That's the question Bobby Schindler asked in the case involving Jesse Ramirez, the Arizona man whose case paralleled that of Schindler's sister, Terri Schiavo, until Ramirez woke up. The Arizona Republic reports:
...Bobby Schindler of the Florida-based Terri Schindler Shiavo Foundation placed the blame on a medical establishment quick to dismiss patients with brain injuries. Why is Jesse alive? His family sought legal intervention with the help of the Alliance Defense Fund:
Schindler is the brother of Terri Schiavo, a brain-damaged Florida woman who died in 2005 after a decades-long court battle.
"What is the rush?" he asked. "This is not the first time we've heard of cases like this where doctors want to write off the chance of recovery, and the family, when they're told this, will make a decision to end a person's life.
"In the case of Mr. Ramirez, he'd be dead now."
His siblings and parents refused to give him up for dead, and today, Jesse Ramirez is alive and conscious.
Two weeks ago, he was the center of a family battling over of whether he should live or die.
Now, he can hug and kiss, nod his head, answer yes and no questions, give a thumbs-up sign and sit in a chair.

And I thought Sicko was an autobiography.
As Orwell, Chesterton and others have observed, intellectuals, as a class, will believe anything. They are so lopsidedly "mental," they live in a dream world unchecked by heart, soul, body, higher values, family, or normal relationships with others. This mentality, in turn, makes them think themselves god-like (a liberal habit), which turns them blind, stupid, evil and corrupt.
If you want someone who knows what makes the world go 'round, talk to a farmer.
Just the first volume. Forthcoming are 2) "Slob," 3) "Depraved," 4) "Lefto" and the final chapter, posthumously, "Morbid Obesity, Type Two Diabetes, Emphysema, Dialysis, Persistent Vegetative State and Removal of PEG Tube."
Scary that someone as crazy and/or corrupt as Judge Greer is still on the bench.
LOL
BTW, I appreciate the pings. I have been away off and on and get so many for some really odd topics, that it is easy to overlook them.
(Not to be confused with catsup...we had plenty of that aboard the train...LOL)
That topic is "Living Wills". Ironically, the weakness of "living wills" is illustrated by what happened to Terri. As hubby may have said, "We don't need no steenkin living wills."
A different approach may be to review what the Terri Schindler Schiavo Foundation put out on their website, "Will To Live"
Here is the story published today in the Olympian...
...............................
The Terri Schiavo case two years ago crystalized for many the need to leave clear directions in case of severe illness, says Wynne Whitman, a tax trust and estate lawyer in Morristown, N.J. As the country was riveted by the disagreement between Schiavo's parents and husband over whether her feeding tube should be removed, queries about setting up living wills poured into Whitman's office. Whitman and Louisville, Ky.-based oncologist Shawn Glisson have co-written "Wants, Wishes, and Wills," a new book that combines legal and medical advice for protecting yourself and your family - in sickness and in health. In short, they outline four musts: - a will, to divide up your assets after you die. - a "living will" that outlines how much health care you'd want if you can no longer make that decision. - a health care proxy that appoints someone to make medical decisions for you, again if you're unable. - and power of attorney that designates someone to make financial decisions for you, such as paying taxes or selling property, if you can't. Dying has become more complicated, Whitman argues, citing treatment for diseases such as Alzheimer's. "Our population is aging," she says. "We see a lot more cognitive defects. We also see the ability for people to live much longer with what traditionally may have been diseases that were really death sentences."

For the past two years, the family of Hillsboro software engineer Wendy Melcher has believed that Melcher died from cancer.
What they didnt know, until last week, was that four days before Melcher died in August 2005 two Portland-area nurses gave her massive amounts of drugs intended to cause her death. The drugs were administered in what the nurses would later call an assisted-suicide plan directed by Melcher.
The nurses have admitted to the Oregon State Board of Nursing that they administered doses of morphine and phenobarbital without informing Melchers physician. Oregons Death With Dignity Act the only such law in the nation allows assisted suicide but only with the assistance of a physician.
The nurses now are under investigation for possible criminal wrongdoing by state police and the Oregon attorney general after a former employee of the Oregon State Board of Nursing two weeks ago provided Gov. Ted Kulongoski information about the case.

BTW in the video she wears an oxygen assist tube. From what I know of those devices and their use, I am sure she could have removed it for the video but kept it on to enhance her victim status. IMHO.
Marcelle Jones has thought a lot about how her life might end. She has been treated for a serious medical problem for several years, and while it has not gotten worse, eventually "it's going to get me," said Jones, 82.
Long before she moved to Lakeland in 1990, Jones had joined the Hemlock Society - now known as Compassion and Choices - an organization that provides information about how terminally ill people can end their lives, either through passive means or, if they choose, by suicide.

JEFFERSON CITY, July 9, 2007 (LifeSiteNews.com) - The state of Missouri has voted to improve oversight of abortion facilities and ban abortionists or people associated with abortion clinics from teaching in schools and providing school materials. The new law reclassifies abortion mills as "ambulatory surgical centers," which places them under stricter regulations and puts them under the scrutiny of state officials.
Governor Blunt said at the signing ceremony that the new law is "one of the strongest pieces of pro-life legislation in Missouri history".

Whew!
In fitting irony, PP calls it "Nobody's Fool." Typical of PP to twist words this way as they make fools out of their followers...
This is the 18th year of the Planned Parenthood "Nobody's Fool" conference, which the group promotes as "comprehensive sex education." But John Pisciotta of Pro-Life Waco has another name for it -- he calls it a "promiscuity promotion conference."
Pisciotta says Planned Parenthood has one objective: to teach children about sex so that they will have sex and, when they are panicked into thinking they must end the child's life for their convenience, come to Planned Parenthood for an abortion. "It's a marketing ploy to try to get the youngsters to kind of link two concepts -- sex and Planned Parenthood," says the pro-life leader.

Ping to a thread by beaversmom on the topic I posted on #110, and on sleaze James.
This is from the Boston Globe.
James was arraigned yesterday on charges of child assault and mayhem, while Silveira was arraigned on charges of permitting and covering up the abuse. The couple, who were arrested on Wednesday, pleaded not guilty and were held without bail.

Schindler is the brother of Terri Schiavo, a brain-damaged Florida woman who was tortured to death and brutally murdered ex officio in 2005 by the direct, illegal, unconstitutional and prejudiced order of circuit judge George Greer, acting ultra vires, after a decades-long court battle.
I see no hope here, ever.
