Both of my Senators, Nelson and Martinez, have shown they don’t listen to their constituents ... they need the boot!

Now is not the time to let up. We need to pressure our politicians to enforce the existing immigration laws including deporting illegal aliens, building the fence and prosecuting businesses who do business with illegal aliens. The link below is a ping list to pay attention for other questionable legislation being considered in Congress.

Kansas: Brownback (R-KS), Yea & Nay

Senator Brownback voted for amnesty before he voted against it!

“North Dakota: Conrad (D-ND), Yea Dorgan (D-ND), Nay “

Did the ND people give them oposite instructions?
Both Dems, why cancel each others vote?

Dorgan’s up for election next.

The Congressional recess coming up should afford many of us the opportunity to get some valuable “face time” with our respective congress critters. Some of these folks will be holding Town Hall Meetings around their states/districts. A call to one of their local offices or a visit to their web sites ought to give you the schedule.

The recent immigration dust-up brought a lot of new folks into the fray over who runs the country. Because the forces of darkness never rest, IT IS VITAL THAT THESE NEW FOLKS NOT GO BACK TO SLEEP. Sadly, most of them will.

I predicted that illegal immigration would be a hot-button issue over 10 years ago when more than 70% of those at Newt’s meetings – where I regularly went to gin up support for the Fair Tax (then called the National Retail Sales Tax) — were mad as hell and beating him up on the illegal situation. While he never has come out directly for the Fair Tax, more than once, Newt coupled the two issues by suggesting that the over 100,000 IRS agents be given a weapon and training and sent to guard the border with Mexico. Newt KNOWS how to couple.

If YOUR critters ARE having meetings – and if not during THIS recess, unless their names are Reid, Pelosi, Graham or Schumer, they will almost certainly have them in the run-up to the election – please think about attending, taking the mike and telling them what YOU think. Even if THEY fail to heed your words, you just may educate the audience to some new problem. Heck, you may even get a heart-warming round of applause.

If nothing else, it’s excellent THEATER to watch some of these folks artfully dodge questions, shuck and jive around a tough issue about which they have absolutely NO knowledge, have their overflowing drool-cups changed by one of their flunkies, etc. so TAKE A CARLOAD with you.

See you there???

To me the worst aspect of this near disaster is this:

The bill was so poorly thought out and written that none of the Senators really knew and understood the total content.

They could not have a clear view of what the total impact would be but overall it was clearly against the best interests of the country.

Yet anywhere from 46 to 64 Senators and the President of the USA were prepared to vote it into law.

They had no problem disregarding these facts:

1 - The bill was full of conflicting provisions, half truths, ouright lies

2 - Many of the provisions were so unrealistic that everyone knew the government would not and could not keep its word to implement them

3 - There were a few (very few) somewhat reasonable ammendments that everyone knew would be stripped out before the bill became law

4 - The cost projections were astronomical

5 - There would be very little positive impact on reducing the entry of illegals

Many of the Senators along with the President and some of his cabinet act as if they are in office to persue the agenda of the pro-illegal groups instead of the interests of the republic and the voters who put them in office and pay their salaries.
The Secretary of Homeland Security spent his time lecturing us on the needs of illegal aliens instead of explaining why he isin’t protecting our borders.

We need a total overhaul of the government.

McConnell switched from Yea to Nay from Tuesday to Thursday, but on the Thursday vote, he didn’t bother to vote UNTIL there were the necessary 40 Nays to kill the bill. So, I’m not putting much stock in that switch. I think he just voted Nay to tell the folks back here in KY that he voted the way we wanted him to at last. I’m still not convinced he actually wanted the bill defeated.

Some real pieces of crap on that list.

I hope everyone’s paying close attention and will vote accordingly.

Politics makes strange bedfellows.

It looks as though Senators from larger, more urban states were a lot more likely to vote for the bill.

Some of them have a lot of immigrants and illegals living in their states.

Others depend a lot on money from big business.

Also, the larger the population, the less likely a representative is to be called to account.

For some Senators, there's not much of an excuse or explanation, though, except maybe a general insulation from day-to-day realities.
