As Mark Twain might say, reports of the Immigration Bill's death have been highly exaggerated.
The bill might have been killed for the second time, but today's Wall Street Journal reports that at least three key parts of it may still have life (one of which, the Dream Act, I've previously written about). Yes, it's like Freddy Kruger. The bill never completely dies. These, too, must be killed:
It ain't over 'til it's over.
"Show me just what Mohammed brought that was new, and there you will find things only evil and inhuman, such as his command to spread by the sword the faith he preached." - Manuel II Palelologus
Gotta keep shootin’ those turkeys when the heads bob up.
What part of NO don’t these ahole politicians in Washington understand? Sheesh!
Well, it won't work. They have underestimated the American spirit and stamina.
NO means NO, dammit!
I can’t say I’m against a path to citizenship for military service. Hell, I’m all for a Foreign Legion, actually.
But school slots that might better be given to U.S. citizens? Sorry. No.
Oh man...going to try the deah by a thousand cuts, are they?
Yep, they’re going to spoon feed it to us.
Sneaky little varmits...be vewy vewy quiet.....
Oh, and tech worker visas? Did we have a post here recently that showed how companies are purposefully trying to hire foreigners so they can pay them less?
Ah, here it is...

Interesting that the much-touted enforcement portions are not on the list, showing us what they were really aiming for.
AgJobs and DREAM Act are just more amnesties, just not the mother-of-all-amnesties that the Z visa represents.
With the DREAM Act you get to have “Anchor Teenagers” instead of anchor babies: by coming over with a 12 year old, getting them in school (taxpayer paid of course), then when they graduate and go to the local community college for a few years, you have amnesty.
AgJobs is amnesty for farm worker.
“so what are you for?” asked Senator Kennedy.
We do need an answer that says here is what we are for. We need an answer that
unites most Americans.
This is our immigration and illegal immigration program for the next 18 months:
Enforcement first. Legal immigration law changes later. Amnesty never.
Executive branch:
1. Build the border fence ASAP and secure the border, reduce border crossings by 90%
2. Deport criminal aliens aggressively, and significantly reduce 600,000 deportation order backlog
3. Get US visit program really implemented to track entries, exits and visa overstays
Legislation needed now:
4. Implement and establish employee verification program to enforce immigration law in the workplace
5. Eliminate sanctuary cities (i.e., the Coleman amendment)
6. Funding to implement items 1,2, and 3.
Later:
7. Replace ‘chain migration’ with a more employment-focussed and merit-based immigration
system, where we select the best from around the world.
8. End anchor babies.
9. Temporary worker program that is limited.
I must have missed seeing the border security part???
whack-a-mole! Durbin & Co. must be gluttons for punishment.
nooooooooooooooooooooooooo
Anyone remember 1989 when we sent tea bags to Congress to protest their pay raise?
They are still getting their pay raises.
Exactly. Damn them and their Fabian tactics...I can't WAIT to vote these bums out next year!
“I have no problem with an alien who serves a *full* hitch in the Armed Forces,*honorably*,getting a fast track to citizenship....but no member of his/her family (except spouse and kids) would be able to join him....*ever*.”
Then you have to change the current law, which allows for family-based “chain migration”.
In truth, the chain migration has been a huge source of our immigration woes. Every small hole (like your above example) becomes a big loophole. The best immigrants are crowded out by the unlimited number of requests for family members.
We have over a million immigrants per year, vast majority of them are in the family-based ‘chain migration category. If we eliminated that we could have a lot more slots for employer based immigration, and less opportunity/advantage from illegal immigration.
That’s what my brother, a Force Recon Marine, said the insurgents did! Pop their head up, and watch ‘em get whacked!
