McDermott to Cheney: ‘Resign or face impeachment’

McDermott to Cheney: ‘Resign or face impeachment’ By Chris Good June 29, 2007 Rep. Jim McDermott (D-Wash.) told Vice President Dick Cheney to “resign or face impeachment” Thursday night as three more House Democrats lent their support to a plan to impeach the vice president.

“The vice president holds himself above the law, and it is time for the Congress to enforce the law,” McDermott said in a floor speech. “For the good of the nation, the vice president could leave office immediately.”

McDermott was one of three House Democrats to come out in favor of impeachment Thursday, along with Reps. Keith Ellison (Minn.) and Hank Johnson (Ga.). Including the three lawmakers, seven members in June have shown new support for impeaching Cheney.

McDermott cited Cheney’s refusal to cooperate with the Information Security Oversight Office (ISOO), which, pursuant to an order signed by President Clinton, oversees the handling of classified documents by executive agencies. McDermott denounced a 2004 claim that Cheney’s office is not part of the executive branch.

“When a sitting vice president claims that he is not part of the executive branch of government to which he was elected, it is time to remove him from office,” McDermott said.

“Is there a Communist takeover going on in Washington D.C. or what?!!!!”

There are attempts, sure enough. There has been a shadow government in this country for years, as far as I am concerned. It is just one more reason we need a President who does not cozy up to these traitors, and is not afraid to take them on either!

Ohmygawsh! He went to the same college I went to! Wheaton College. That means he should be a second Billy Graham! (Graham went to Wheaton College too!) But what happened to him? I am so disappointed in the college for turning out someone like him! And he’s in the same camp with Keith Ellison!

...Cheney resigns for health reasons, gets replaced by Fred Thompson...

Heard that scenario this morning from Quinn & Rose (XM165), as an explanation as to why FT hasn't formally announced for president yet.

And the campaign to put Pelosi in the oval office continues ...

Guess they thought we were so distracted by their plan to give away the country that we wouldn’t notice.

In late 1996, Rep. John Boehner, R-Ohio, engaged in a conference call with other Republican congressmen, including then-Speaker Newt Gingrich. Their conversation was illegally wiretapped by two Florida Democrats, Alice and John Martin, who, when caught, were tried and fined $500 apiece. Before they were caught and fined, these two wiretappers actually took their purloined tape recording to Washington, D.C., where they gave it to a then-member of the House Ethics Committee, Washington state’s Democrat, James McDermott of Seattle. MCDERMOTT LEAKED this private conversation to the New York Times and the Atlanta Journal-Constitution

“Can we put Fred Thompson in as VP for the next year or so? :oP

You can’t unless your name is George W. Bush.”

I wouldn’t be surprised to see the Senate try and pass a new law that gives them up or down votes on who would replace him. Better we leave well enough alone until the election. lol

Ever get the feeling that the nuts that cry the loudest for the most ridiculous issues, are about to be indicted for their own treachery?

Maybe things are catching up to Baghdad Jim?

“...mcdermott needs a brain transplant.”

That would imply that he has one to start with. He doesn’t.

Yes, and he just lost an appeal in court and will have to pay upwards of a million bucks in fines, court costs and attorneys fees, I believe.

Mr. McDermott,

What law, exactly, has Vice President Cheney allegedly broken?

I'm waiting to see title and paragraph of the code under which he will be charged.

Congress is the Executive Branch of government now? Go read a Constitution, you schmuck.

Does anyone have the exact quote where Cheney supposedly said he wasn’t part of the Executive Department?

They're just trying to get their Code Pinkos all exited; Cheney is red meat for them.

What would get them excited is the smell of red tuna.

Or salmon... the other red fish!
