The President today officially nominated Adm. Michael Mullen, to be Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff and Gen. James Cartwright to Joint Chiefs Vice Chairman.

The President then travelled to the Naval War College in Newport, RI and delievered a speech on Iraq and made a statement on the Senate immigration bill to the press.

The President then went to the family compound on Walker's Point in Kennebunkport, Maine for a long weekend. Later this weekend, his father, former President George H.W. Bush and the current President are scheduled to host Russian President Vladimir Putin.

Today the Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice met with South Korea's Foreign Minister Song Min-soon at the State Department.

Laura Bush and her daughter Jenna are in Zambia today .
