What we need is a law against that.
Trent Lot must be Fired and Linsey Graham also..these two were the worst defenders, and also Insulted Us, so we must make an example of them so that these Cocky Punks dont try
this again.
Here is a spreadsheet of all the immigration votes
It's the Information Age that's made it happen. The politicians in Washington are running scared.
The people stopped the Dubai ports deal.
Now they have stopped this Senate bill--1,000-pages or so that nobody knows what's in.
The next battle will be over "The Fairness Doctrine"--government censorship and control over information reaching the public.
Diane Feinstein has already launched an assault against Talk Radio. She claims to want it to present "both sides" (as thought there were only two). What she really wants is for it to be forced to present is her side--i.e. Leftist Propaganda--or Federal Government Propaganda.
The American people can defeat Diane too--and her attempt to force the News Media to present Big Brother's Propaganda!
Get ready for a fight, Diane! We the People will defeat your next little scheme too!
Real good analysis from Hewitt. The key will be that the GOP base is reunified before 2008 elections.
Of course, that means running a presidential candidate that is strong on security and illegal immigration. That means no Giuliani, McCain...and probably Romney.
Also, the GOP needs new leadership in the Senate...hello Jeff Sessions! The days of Lott, McCain, La Raza Lindsey are over. And, dump Mel Martinez as GOP chair.
One would think that the state that gave us Andrew Jackson, John C. Calhoun, and Strom Thurmond could come up with an alternative to Goober.
Is that Monica Lewinski?
Read my tag line.
Right on.
Round one of a thousand round fight...
>>Can we now declare victory?<<
Not yet.
BUILD THE DUNCAN HUNTER FENCE
LOCK THE BACK DOOR ALREADY!!
I generally leave with the one who brought me. This immigration bill put and end to that. I don’t know who George Bush is.
No, you ,may not declare victory. You can think about the next step when 699 miles of fence is built, when employers factories are actually raided, and illegal workers are herded onto buses and workers are getting ladders for the last mile of fence.
You can have a victory cup cake when the first 1 million illegal immigrants are on the bus.
Look, we actually accomplished something, now lets follow it up with more action. Call the Senate, the President, and tell them we want the fence done, not just 2 miles but the whole 700 miles. We want employers offices raided and CEOS put behind bars for employing illegal aliens.
Only then will I organize a dancing in the street celebration.
I got a taste of victory today, and damned if it didn’t taste good. I want my voice heard more.
.....Bob
In short, it's now time for COMPREHENSIVE change and the battle has just begun. But today was an encouraging evidence that the people's voice can still be heard.
Size 53, just like the votes. Perfect!
Bill Hicks???? What am I missing? He was a jerk-0ff!
I dont know. While I am glad the bill failed, I think the debate was so rhetorically simplified that any real sane discussion, or analysis of what was going on, was drowned out.
Folks here were crying the end of the world on Tuesday. Now they are relieved. I think an explanation for the turn of events goes beyond Hewitts description of any road to Damascus moments.
I think the republicans that voted for closure on Tuesday wanted to see if the amendment requiring all illegals to return to home country would be defeated by democrats, and it was, showing that this was always an amnesty bill. So they came back on Thursday and said no to the second closure. (The scary part would have been if the return to home amendment had passed, because then it would have been stripped out later)
It was always a bad bill, and there are still RINO's like McCain,Hagel, etc that need to be retired.
Looking at the glass half full, the Dem leadership has wasted almost its entire tenure thus far and accomplished nothing. They look like dolts. The republican base has found a voice.
While the Bush admin hasn't help itself one bit on this issue, they have managed to keep this issue on the front page for far longer than I think the dems would have liked. The MAJORITY spoke out on this. Nobody can pull the race card on Repubs next election. And real conservatives win here.
