Nah. You think they want this kind of heat in an election year? They wanted to get it over with now specifically to avoid that. Besides, I don’t think this would have been pushed so hard with any other administration. This has been Bush’s big issue since he was governor. I remember him huffing and puffing and saying, “You won’t stop educating illegals while I’M governor!” I don’t think they’ll try this for a while, but we need to use this result to force our reps and our candidate for the Presidency to do something real about this.

This Bill will be back just in time for the 2008 Elections.Good. Perhaps it might awaken the sleeping (apathetic) electorate to finally go vote these bastards out of office.

Immigration bill goes down in defeat The Hill By Klaus Marre June 28, 2007 The comprehensive immigration reform bill that has dodged attacks from the left and right for weeks, survived “poison pill” amendments, and was once pulled from the Senate schedule failed its most important test Thursday. Passage of the legislation now appears unlikely. The bipartisan coalition that had shepherded the measure through so many obstacles failed to get the 60 votes necessary to end debate. Until Thursday morning, it was unclear whether the bill would survive the cloture vote. But in the end, opponents of the measure from both sides of the political spectrum gained enough support to derail the legislation. Liberals felt it did not go far enough in protecting illegal immigrants, while conservatives rejected the bill because they felt it would grant amnesty to the estimated 12 million illegal immigrants in the country. Republican foes of the measure argued that the American public was broadly united in opposition to the bill and had made its views known by flooding Congress with phone calls and e-mails. “What part of ‘no’ don’t we understand?,” asked Sen. Jim DeMint (R-S.C.), who said the immigration fight had “reengaged the American people.” But Sen. Lindsey Graham (R-S.C.), one of the key members of the coalition that crafted the bill, warned his Republican colleagues ahead of the vote. “Remember this day if you vote ‘no,’” Graham said, adding that this bill would not come back in its current form and it is “as good as it gets.” President Bush has taken a hands-on approach to the legislation, which he views as an important part of his domestic legacy. Leading up to the vote, called senators to urge them to support the bill.

Where is Tony Snow now? I want to hear from him. I want him to tell us the collective wisdom of conservative America is worthless and bigoted again. That is what the left is now saying.

WE the people stopped this ridiculous bill.
Get ready for the MSM to claim that “conservatives hate latinos”. You all know it’s coming.

I am very pleased to see that “The Vampire Strikes Back” had a good ending ... THE GOOD GUYS WON ... But there will be other battles to wage, this is the start of the new conservative resurgence, built on the ashes of mis-spent RINOism.
They will come back, yes, BUT WE WILL BE READY FOR THEM, once again.

1. Vote all traitor senators out of office.
2. Secure the border.
3 Begin Deporting all illegal immigrants.
3. Implement a GUEST worker program that does not promise citizenship with 'air-tight' ID and other documentation. (Include time-limits)
4. Suspend/cancel the 'anchor-baby' loophole.
5. Pentalize sanction cities.

“We havent won anything.”
By and large I agree with you.
BUT, I suspect this leglislative landmark might be phrased like
Churchill’s “the end of the beginning” of the border war.
And the good news is that enough Senators listened to their constituents
(and maybe Robert Rector) and aren’t yet ready to totally throw open
the doors of the US Treasury for 12-60 millions wards of the state.
But, as the Marines on the beach rarely say at the height of battle:
“The issue is in doubt”.
There is a long hard slog ahead to unravel the giant furball of
illegal immigration.

I’m thinking of Emailing Bush to let him know I haven’t gotten my invitation to the bill signing ceremony yet.
Maybe he’s using the Passport Office to address the envelopes.

What a great day for Conservatives in America. Amnesty whacked (at least for now), and racial discrimination whacked by the USSC.
Now its time to retire some Senators...

Was that supposed to be a threat from Lindsey Scamnesty that the bill will come back even worse? Apparently these clowns are gluttons for punishment.
