We WON
Bush is like that handyman who did Seinfeld's kitchen.
"Finish the fence today!"
"Okay, but I can finish it with amnesty and a guest worker program if you want."
"Just do it!"
And PS: Go to hell, Mr. Bush
GREAT NEWS!!
More like:
Don’t forget McCain and Kyl who both just committed political suicide over this nonsense.
Kudoes to you and to the thousands of others who kept the phone lines to DC melting down in recent weeks!
This bill was never going to pass (as it was). It didn't have a shot in hell. The hyperventalating that went on after the first cloture vote by many within our base was foolishness and sad to witness.
I'm glad to see this bill die appropriately (as it was written).....but wish some within our base showed a little more stones, class and intellectual honesty while this last process played out.
Hell, we had some calling the WH evil for wanting a full up and down vote (yet, that is exactly what WE, the base were demanding when it came to Judges, Amb Bolton, etc, etc). Now, I was glad the cloture rule was used to defeat this bill.....But with that said, I did not think the WH was evil for suggesting it wanted a full up and down vote. Just like we weren't evil (or wrong) for wanting the same on Amb Bolton, Judges and other items.
But it is how the process works. Our founding fathers were smarter then a bunch of over hyperventalting, sky is falling cross hangers that we see so often today....

Yes. I want to see photos of them all... especially that sumbish Kennedy though....
anybody have the list of votes
This is the oldest political trick in the book - deliberately put up an exaggerated bill that everyone hates, defeat it, follow it up with a "much better" bill that contains all sorts of outrages that would never have been tolerated before the intial bill was floated, and get it passed.
Not one Senator ever intended for this bill to pass. It's the next one they'll be betting on.
Gee...Is he going to sing any Mexican songs?...HA! HA!
One day Teddy will be gone from politics. I can’t wait...
Maybe Lindsey Scamnesty/Gramnesty is a sadomasochist?
Senators in both parties said the issue is so volatile that Congress is highly unlikely to revisit it this fall or next year, when the presidential election will increasingly dominate American politics. (source)
Keep bringing it back so we won't forget and so that the rage will continue (and even intensify) into the 2008 elections.
Let's paint a big stinking target on every member of the Democrat and Republican establishment with all of the bovine excrement from this treacherous bill, in the next election and beyond, until they are all run out of town.
Thanks. We in Florida HAVE to get rid of Martinez. Have to.
Bye bye legacy, President Bush.
Outstanding.
