Say What? Thats right the most ethical congress in history voted itself a payhike today. I am looking for the roll call and I will post it when it when I find it.
Majority Leader Steny Hoyer, D-Md., and Minority Whip Roy Blunt, R-Mo., worked the floor during the vote to make sure there was relative balance between the warring parties in delivering votes. Working through Blunt, Hoyer forced more than a dozen Republicans to switch their votes in support of accepting the raise, including Mike Pence and Daniel Burton of Indiana and Fred Upton, Dave Camp and Vernon Ehlers of Michigan.
Pence did what? Hoyer and Blunt working in tandem, what in the WORLD was going on in the House today?!?!!? I mean holy insanity! The article is a must read though extremely depressing.
Roll call is apparently here but it wasnt a straight up or down on the payraise but a vote about voting on it

Wednesday voted to accept an approximately $4,400 pay raise that will increase their salaries to almost $170,000.http://www.washingtonpost.com/wp-dyn/content/article/2007/06/27/AR2007062702172.html
435 house representatives times $4,400 equals $1,914,000 in government waste a year.
Congress’s little way of sticking it to da man = US.
How come Dennis Kookinich and the rest of the nut crowd did not go on a rampage over this? I guess even the nut crowd thinks of their own pockets first. Maxine Waters needs the raise for airfare to send the kids to Cuba to visit their Uncle Fidel.
Democrats last year fulfilled a campaign promise to deny themselves a pay hike until Congress raised the minimum wage. Delays in the minimum wage bill cost every lawmaker about $3,100 this year.

Raise, raise, Raise.... next you know it will be Taxes.
$170,000 X 435 representatives = $73,950,000 in government waste a year......
Yes. Since 1913, when 435 members became the set number for the House of Representatives, we've been able to declare reality and go to a single representative for the entire US instead of 1 + 434 other money sucking piglets.
I mean, with only one representative for the country, we save boatloads of money, and the "no taxation without repesentation" flimflammery will still be satisfied...
And just think... they’re getting a raise for going against the ideals of the majority of the American public.
Just another reason they want the Amnesty, so all the illegals can fund their salaries.
Figures.
No shame
wtf?!
Lots of countries have tried that...the representatives are known as "dictators"!
Yea! This will lower the approval ratings of the present Democratically controlled Congress even more!

In January I got a $12.00 a month increase in my Social Society,I didn’t know what to spend it on !!
I would much rather our present pay system was changed to one where local districts and states pay representatives rather than the federal coffer. After all, that’s who these bozos are supposed to represent! Talk about “power of the purse”...
Sorry bastards, the whole lot of em.
Forced??? Come on, did he hold their wives and children hostage in order to get them to change their votes?
Matter of fact, US Senators until the very early 1900s were appointed by the States, as they were supposed to represent that State. Little-by-little they’ve changes things around till now they represent only each other in the congress (and themselves)—once elected, they fancy themselves rulers to screw over the poor dumbass masses—maybe they’re right—we play along w/their game don’t we?
When’s the last time even one of these tawdry turds were thrown into the streets?
And thats not even the tip of the iceberg when you consider the costs of operations, secretaries, assistants and other "hangers on" along with all their perks such as travel, postage, health spas, barber shops etc. etc. etc. ad infinitum.
Blunt continues to embarrass Missouri.
I wish they would vote themselves terminated.
