The System is Rigged. What Can "We The People" Do About It?

As the title implies, it appears more and more that our Constitutional Republic is becoming more corrupt by the day through back-room bribes and under-handed dealings regarding the Senate "Comprehensive Immigration Reform" package.

Currently, the Senate and the Executive Branch is efforting to force this legislation that will completely negate our system of justice by undermining our legal immigrations system and giving "special treatment" (amnesty) to those who have wait their turn.

I have long fought against "illegal immigration" in many ways and for many years. But I never believed that our Fedgov would so actively work to undermine what our Founding Fathers fought and died for (American sovereigny), not to mention the 10's of thousands who have died and been maimed for said ideals.

It's become painfully obvious to me with this monstrous and sovereign destroying collaboration between President Bush, Senator Kennedy, Senator McCain and many others, that our very existence as Republic will experience the final socialist nail in the coffin.

Even the most intellectually challenged can see how it will only help to increase the invasion of foreign nationals. And just how many foreign nationals do we need.

Here's a question that NO ONE, I mean NO ONE has ever answered in all my postings on the Internet: Just how many more of the planet Earth's oppressed should we take in every year? 500,000?; 1,000,000?; 2,000,000?; 4,000,000?; 8,000,000?; 16,000,000?; 32,000,000?

HOW MANY? How many will it take to degrade our amazing American standard of living? This is not rocket science. It's simple arithimetic.

So what do we do? Even if the House kills this obscenity, what do we do with these Senators who have pushed it? Attempting to vote them out of office rarely works. People are greedy and love the pork their Reps bring home.

So what to do? I don't believe in insurrection, but I have no problem with those who would use misdemeanors to get attention. I am not encouraging same. However, keep in mind how effective sit-ins and paint splashings (not on public property) and such have been for the liberal/marxists in the past. There are other ways to demean and dishonor those in Congress who dishonor us.

Again, I don't encourage illegal methods, but those who would make a point to counter the advancing socialism and totalitarian efforts of our so-called Senators, I would be tickled to see.

Got ideas? Or are you just going to keep going over to the local neighborhood polling place and push the button for the lessor of the evils? If so, then enjoy your slow decline into one more self-absorbed country that died within. Time to act, or cower in your living room with the latest reality show. Just know, there are actions you can take.

Vote every incumbent out of office next year, like the voters came close to doing in 1994.

If defeating 37 out of 535 is close to voting all of them out, I'm close to Timbuktu.

"Passive resistance has worked well for the Libs/Progressives/socialists, or whatever they call themselves now, so why not use against them."

That's the point of this article. "Passive resistance" is a better word than my "civil disobediance" terminology.

Mine, and apparently, your point is to move beyond the loaded political system.

The liberals have used "passive resistance" (more like...agressive resistance) for decades. They used it to lose the Viet Nam war, even after the Tet Offensive that we won decisively; they've used it to install liberal idiologies in our schools and other institutions; they've used it to fight against the WOT. They've used "passive" disobedience today to change the thinking of mainstream America regarding Iraq and other conservative issues.

Is it not time for us to use the same techniques...the same "passive resistance" to restore our Constitutional Republic? I'm willing - are you?

"A week later, stacks (literally hundreds) of ballots were found in the trash - with votes for her."

That's exactly the point of this article. The system is broken - what do we do?

I should have said every incumbent up for reelection. There are 435 House members up for reelection.

It "applies" forever, unless you renounce. I haven't and don't know of any Veteran who has.

I wish that were true. I have a friend who was running for Congress - she lost. A week later, stacks (literally hundreds) of ballots were found in the trash - with votes for her.

Sounds like Washington state where the Democrats in charge of the state didn't like it when the Republican candidate for governor won and so they just kept doing recounts, "finding" more votes and when they found enough Democrat votes to put their woman over the top they declared victory and that was it. So blatent!

Our country has been hijacked. McConnell is hiding in the Senate, that Ohio senator doesn't even know what's in the bill he's voting for (probably like most of the rest) turncoat Graham who promised to term limit himself when he ran the first time, Soros writes talking points for the Democrats...and now this: http://www.thecapitolist.com/archives/20070627/#1909 Long..interesting..scroll to bottom. Contacting our people in congress is met with derision by people whose salaries we pay. I'm not saying give up....but it's really bad.

The voting booth means nothing anymore.

It means everything BUT people have to be willing to use it as the founders intended. We The People are the most important element in what is called Checks and Balances in our government. We have to hold congress in check before we can expect any correction in the other two branches. Congress is the easiest place to bring about change and was made so by design.

Political activism works whether it is one person or 1,000,000 and it does cross party lines as we saw it happen in the late 1970's and 80's. I've been a lot more politically active than a lot of persons know. Not out of choice but rather necessity. I learned a lot of lessons. One of them is there are far worse things sometimes than losing a political race. Sometimes the party you support can be your worse enemy or rather the Executive Branch elected and the blind who follow due to warped party loyalties. My state had a major protest against a Republican governor who thankfully was term limited out. He nearly bankrupted both state treasury as well as nearly ruined the state health care system in the public sector. Go to my home page and click the Tennessee Tax Revolt threads or Tenn Care threads.

The GOP sold out but few realize just how far. Let's take Medicare reform. Bill Frist the hero of the GOP for his so called brilliant Medicare plan. Well he got his idea from Hillary Clinton and Al Gore. Sheeple in the GOP followed right behind him. The man sat on his hands for years while his state suffered the ill effects and it was within his and Fred Thompson's power to stop it by stopping federal funds.

LOL I've been so ticked before at my elected so called REPs on a state level I had them Freeped over one issue. I'll send you the link in private. Look the nonsense in DC will stop when the voice of the people say enough is enough. It may take something like the Tennessee Tax Revolt to do it? What was that? Simple. A bunch of angry citizens caused gridlock around the State Capitol when the issue was voted on or being debated. Horns blared and downtown Nashville was brought to a stand still. The result? No state income tax.

People also need to get over the idea the GOP is gonna save us all and all the Dems are gonna destroy us. Our governor is a DEM in his second term. He dares not mention a state income tax. He has not closed state facilities. He is a self proclaimed liberal but the man despite that runs the state more conservative than the previous two term RINO ever did or even Lamar Alexander who is nothing more himself than a big government shill.

We have the right to petition congress. That right is not exclusive to lobbyist. Actually paid career lobbyist should be banned until the day you, me, or anyone can access our elected in a face to face manner such as they can.

If the voting booth can't correct it then we were given the means of recourse by the founders themselves. Our nation has gone through such a process once since it's founding. It was started by a Republican actually who tossed the Constitution in the trash and nullified states rights. Yet good old Honest Abe's name brings standing ovations. Of course people educated in the Marxist dominated school bought into the history re-write as to cause and effect. But that's a subject for another thread.

If you can find it look into some of the essay's of Bill Lind or William Lind. Some can be found at Free Congress. He has been warning of a pending cultural war for nearly two decades. Lind is not some fringe nut either the man is highly intelligent and knows his history well. One of his best pieces was "The origins of Political Correctness" where he discusses Cultural Marxism. A practice many of our elected from both parties are engaging in.

Minus the ones who retire.

35 incumbents were defeated in 1994. <10%. The claim that "we came close" to defeating all incumbents could hardly be farther from the mark.

I Certainly agree with you.

As conservatives we tend to be moral and law abiding by nature, these traits are what they use against us.

How do we get around our own character traits? If we set them aside for this battle, they win.

I send money, spread the word to my neighbors, make the phone calls, write the letters, vote and all I legally can - to no avail it seems.

I am definitely open to suggestions.

Do some of your own research into Vaclav Havel (Czech) and non-political, apolitical and anti-political politics (seen all three words translated from his work). Avoid and/or revise anything about violence or illegal activities, of course.

Then you’ll know. ...all legal and effective. It’s really a psychological (in practice—not lefty psychoanalysis) general negativity game more than anything else.

That is not new though. It's happened ever since our founding especially in local races. Those who do such should be put in prison though.

" How do we get around our own character traits? If we set them aside for this battle, they win."

I don't suggest we dis-own our "character traits". I suggest we use our own conservative "character" traits, much as our Founding Fathers did. We would not be "setting them aside", we would be re-enforcing our heritage.

The FF's character was built upon the ideals that men should be free of oppressive government. Our own Senate now contrives deals behind closed doors that is contrary to the wishes of some 80% of the population. This type of government that was abhorent to our FF's.

Yes, I understand that our Congress has the Constitutional power to pass laws, but the FF's never envisioned Congress having such power as to lay waste to their own sovereignty.

Don't believe me? Read the FF's writings in the Federalist Papers; their letters; their articles in the newspapers of the time; their own personal notes; their correspondance between them.

The Founding Fathers' writings prior to the Constitutional Convention explain and clarify their INTENT regarding the finalized Constitution and its original 10 Amendments.

Point is, we should use the FF's INTENT to counter those who would fight our original "traits" on every occassion. I know it's difficult to explain to a layman, but that's the point of my article. Either we convince them or we find another way around the power-grabbing Senate. We are re-living Rome.

So what do we do?

This nation was founded on Christian principles, trusting God for His protection, guidance and wisdom. When I read this article... the first thing that popped into my head was a verse (2 Chronicles 7:14)

"If my people, who are called by my name, will humble themselves and pray and seek my face and turn from their wicked ways, then will I hear from heaven and will forgive their sin and will heal their land."

This may sound simplistic.....but really....what have we got to lose? We can and WILL forge ahead.... doing everything humanly possible to eliminate the abject evil in our political processes.... but let's not forget WHO gave us our freedom and prosperity to begin with.....and in WHOSE hand it is possible to redeem our land.

I'll add to that. Where such cases happen the party state or national party chairmen from both sides should demand the state attorney general if at a state level or the Office of USAG act if on a national office. Their findings should be without option to drop be sent to the Grand Jury for their consideration. If any link up to that point is broken the offender should be removed from office. The GOP has lost several elections because the party leadership was wimps and did not push matters. I imagine the GOP has done it's share of this as well. Yes some even have done criminal acts. In my state one man was murdered in a campaign by his opponent. The killer was a Republican nick named named Low Tax. Nothing new under the sun.
