This nation was founded on Christian principles, trusting God for His protection, guidance and wisdom. When I read this article... the first thing that popped into my head was a verse (2 Chronicles 7:14)
"If my people, who are called by my name, will humble themselves and pray and seek my face and turn from their wicked ways, then will I hear from heaven and will forgive their sin and will heal their land."
This may sound simplistic.....but really....what have we got to lose? We can and WILL forge ahead.... doing everything humanly possible to eliminate the abject evil in our political processes.... but let's not forget WHO gave us our freedom and prosperity to begin with.....and in WHOSE hand it is possible to redeem our land.
Well, being an Agnostic, what has any of that do with my article? Praise who you like. Personally, I adhere to the old adage, "Do unto others...". You know why? Because whether humans were born of God or evolved, we all have the same feelings. I know when I hurt...I don't want others to hurt, also.
