The IPCC urges boycott of the History Channel

I found this on a Comcast Community forum...

As part of its global disaster series the History Channel has included shows devoted to the Medieval Warming Period and the Little Ice Age claiming that these periods of history really did occur and were responsible for growth of civilizations during the warm periods and plaques and deaths from starvation on the cold periods. They claim that the Medieval Warm Period was a time of plenty when Vikings settled Greenland and the Little Ice Age as a time when the Vikings perished in Greenland, the Mayan civilization disappeared and cold temperatures caused failure of grain crops in Europe causing starvation and the onset of the Black Plaque.

These periods of time are vehemently denied by the International Panel on Climate Control and Al Gore’s office. These supposed periods of history are at odds with the models and theories of the IPCC and with Al Gore’s movie “The Inconvenient Truth” These organizations consider these periods of history as anecdotal or they never did exist.

The IPCC has issued a statement urging protests and a boycott of the History Channel unless these fictitious and outlandish tales are stopped at once. These depictions of history cannot be accurate as they do not fit our model and therefore must be inaccurate. We are demanding that they stop the showing of these programs and replace them with documentaries that show there were hidden areas of earth outside that of known civilizations that experienced historically cold temperatures to balance the record of known civilizations. A UN spokesman also said that there would be an emergency meeting of the IPCC as soon as the weather cools enough to for the members to go to Hawaii.

Al Gore’s office issued a statement saying, “These programs by the History Channel are blatantly fictitious and have been proven false by my many lectures, books and by my movie The Inconvenient Truth. These are settled matters and the only question is what we do now, not what happened in the past. I urge everyone to boycott The History Channel and remember to come to my concerts in July which will prove how warm the earth is getting. Buy your tickets now while they last and don’t forget, I haven’t ruled out running in ‘08 completely.”

Come on...I watched a program on the History channel that counted down the ten deadly things that faced humanity. #3 was nuclear war, #2 was a epidemic and #1 was GLOBAL WARMING!

needless to say, accuracy is NOT their forte.

Environmental whackos wouldn’t mind a little Black Death taking out more than 1/3 of the Global Human Population. The Sierra Club likes it at about 80 Million. Yes, Mr. Lenin, that would be breaking a lot of eggs.
In “Rainbow Six” they even come up with a plague of their own.

This is funny. Just shows that not everyone is stupid enough to believe everything Al and his hyenas say. Gives me faith in the intelligence of humanity. We aren’t all raving lunatics like the global warming cultists.

Not very good dental hygine in medieval times but to actually die of ‘plaque’ is a horrible way to go!

Horrible indeed. I'd rather be killed by a falling refrigerator or choke to death on a bug than die of plaque. You don't get to do your death over. Those that went down because of plaque will probably be ridiculed until the crack of doom - rightly so.

This is obviously satire and should be marked as such.

It's a parody until tomorrow when it actually does happen.

In the show about the Little Ice Age they talk about the warming cycles and heating cycles of the earth and then BOOM, GLOBAL WARMING is brought up. Its like they did not even watch their own show or they are required by law to bring up global warming.

The real press releases from the IPCC are even funnier.

IPCC: Climate change may hurt stability

The History Channel has other kinds of problems.

Al Gore wouldn’t want truth and historic fact to stand in the way of his dogma of global warming. Gore and his sycophants will seek to silence the History Channel like the Catholic Church sought to silence Galileo for daring to prove the them wrong.

Scrapple or a Scrapple wannabe.

The real thing...

With the publication of the article in Science, I gained significant credibility in the community of scientists working on climate change. They thought I was one of them.... One of them let his guard down.

A major person working in the area of climate change and global warming sent me an astonishing email that said: "We have to get rid of the Medieval Warm Period."-- Nir J Shaviv

Appears to be an obvious parady...but the problem is that the Gore part of the story so easily could be the truth. Gore is - to be kind - a below average intellect who would not have graduated from any decent college 50 years ago. But this is today...and universities standards outside the sciences have slipped...and slipped badly.

Yea, like how "Ice Road Truckers" is history.

We cannot let history affect our emotional science! Neither can we admit that the climate has cycled every 1500 years without SUVs.

Your comment,along with Al Gore's movie,made me think of this quip from the movie Get Shorty;

"I've seen better film on teeth!"

So I have recently been watching the “Deadliest Catch” and “Ice Road Truckers” on the Discovery channel. What did they both have in common? Both shows had the Alaskan fishermen and the Canadian truckers claiming it was one of the coldest winters they could remember ... I am sure the IPCC will conventiently edit this out of next years report.

I disagree.

Well done satire should stand on its own.

The fact that this is easily believable makes it that much better. Toning back the comments just a tiny bit would have had everybody screaming at the idiocy of both the IPCC and AlGore.
