So it seems that Senators and Reps abadoned GWB a long before the immigration debate got started in the Senate.
How can you say Conservatives abandoned him on the war and Social Security??? I don’t get where you are coming from with those statements at all... I for one wrote many LTEs, and wrote to my reps about Social Security reform, and I have the bruises to prove my support for this administration when it comes to the WOT as well — I know I am not the only one, either.
Speaking of the WOT — how in the world does granting amnesty to illegal aliens (some of which ARE TERRORISTS from the ME!!!) translate to staying strong on the WOT, anyway? If anything this debate about border security should have been taken up on September 12, 2001 — not 6 years later as part of some bribe to get us to support amnesty.
How does NOT demanding deportation of those here illegally and instead pardoning their crimes translate to protecting our country during a time of war? How in the WORLD can we ask our soldiers to defend a country (Iraq) from incursions from across their borders (Iran, Pakistan) if we are not doing all we can to insure that they CAN’T come through ours??? The duplicity is astounding on this point alone. And simply stating that this new bill will solve border problems does not make it so.
As I said in a previous post — ENFORCE our current laws, and THEN deal with the problems if they are still there... Without any sort of enforcement no amount of changes will decrease the problems. Another concern is if we have problems enforcing the laws we have now, how in the world are we going to implement these new programs — where is the money going to come from??? Who will be hired, and what will they be paid with to process these 15-30 million people when we can’t even keep track of the ones we KNOW about here already???
