You can say that again. It is a miracle that what we have now still works so incredibly well. If we want electric cars anytime soon though, we had better get busy.

$51.8 million? Hell, you can’t put in a medium sized substation (distribution, not transmission) for that amount anymore.

Should also post a link to the NERC findings...
The .gov doesn’t have a clue really, the DOE says there are no PMU’s in the USA.. uh what? I have 3 sitting on my desk right now... and there are several more (10’s of thousands) in the field... though PMU is not enabled.
Utilities are slow to adopt new technology, even though they have it already installed...
