It can be claimed that Bush campaigned as a “moderate isolationist” before the 2000 election. He changed dramatically after 9/11. From opposing “nation building” he became an ardent advocate of just that in both Afghanistan and Iraq.
From what I've read, that can be about the only "isolationist" plank he can lay claim to. He's always been pro-NAFTA, pro- trucking corridor, and chummy with Mexico. At least on the economic front, he's every bit as Globalist as his father.
I still like GWB. I think he's a genuinely good man. Just wrong on immigration and "free" trade.
