A discussion thread about Fred vs Duncan
Now you’ve done it. LOL!
Hunter has proven he can attract American hispanics. His district is heavily hispanic and he has consistently been reelected. Also he’s the only one of the GOP candidates invited who will attend this latino event.

Another interesting thing about the Hunter clan is the fact that his brother John leads a border rescue group than keeps illegals from dying in the desert. (illegals dying is bad)
"They" have? Who? When?
Still undecided but leaning away from Hunter because of what I’ve seen on FR from his supporters.
Its reminiscent of an oh-so-conservative Ahhhhnold being dropped into the middle of our recall. Of course he really wasn’t and isn’t a conservative, just passed off as one.
Ann Coulter said in an interview that Fred Thompson is much like the Democrats’ Obama in one way: we only have what he has said to go on. He has no history in defense and little as a Senator.

Yieks! That is why I decided to have this thread and it does seem to be bringing the two groups together for a civil discussion. I think at this time it is working. Don’t give up on either one yet...
Duncan Hunter all the way. Fred Thompson was a McCain backer in 2000. All of the Senators that backed McCain have disappointed. Some of there were:
Grahamnesty
Voinovich
DeWiney
Fred, because he is FAR better when it comes to support for limited government and federalism. I have had as much as I can stomach of big government conservatism.
I like them both but I don’t think Hunter has a chance of winning.
Hunter has a solid record but unfortunately he doesn’t have name recognition or charisma.
Yes, I know. It’s wrong that charisma is a criteria but it is.
No that is not what it suggests. It suggest that Californians have two of the most liberal Senators in Washington representing them and Hunter is not going to move that far left to get elected.
He's sat in the House for 26 years (a Duncanista even yelled at me yesterday for saying 21 years!), which smells like "career politician" to me.
What should he do? Quit? He represents his district well and his constituents like him. He has been in Congress for 21 years without breaking the law or getting rich by being there. He is a decorated Vet, Army Ranger and has at least one son in Iraq, which smells like "patriot who teaches his children what he preaches to others and practices himself"
Despite the touted credentials of being against unfair free trade deals with substandard third world countries, his record is actually mixed. While he voted against several trade deals with Latin America, he has voted FOR similar trade deals with Muslim Middle Eastern countries.
Are you insinuating something? Sounds like he takes each case on its merits to me.
Hunter's record of fiscal responsibility is mixed, at best. He's been a big porkbarreler while in Congress (and no, it is NOT "all just military spending"). He voted for No Child Left Behind (which, admittedly, so did Fred), and he also voted for the prescription drug bill that Bush pushed through, which to date has been the single largest increase in federal entitlement spending our government has made.
21 years in Congress and voting for the Prescription Drug bill is it? Get real.
Haven’t heard a thing from either. Granted one is not in the race yet. Don’t they have anything to say about anything? Hillary!08 sure does even though she is full of baloney.
I have seen every single candidate have supporters who were out of line but its not the candidates fault, right?
Several of the items are reasonably explained, especially some of the votes. Perhaps tying into those a bit more would be more persuasive if indeed you cannot accept the explanations of a given position. Regurgitation of the same facts makes for a continually weaker argument.
Hunter wants to deal with China and all it’s poisonous and dangerous imports and the trade imbalance. All the other andidates are globalists and approve China’s Most Favored Nation trade status. China is laughing all the way to the bank and buying weapons with the money they are making off of us.
SUPPORT Conservatism!!!!...No matter the man!
Fred’s better, honey.
;-)
