If that was the case, then a full tank of gas for an average sedan would weigh close to a quarter-ton

I think what they do is say that the fuel provides the carbon part, and the air provides the oxygen part. So when one ounce of fuel is burned, it combines with the ambient oxygen to produce 75 million tons of planet killing CO2.

Good site. Going from your web page, if an average car gets about 20mpg (good assumption) then it does translate to roughly 1 lb/mile.

Sigh. I hate it when AlGore is right. I suppose that even a stopped clock is correct twice a day.

75 million tons of planet killing CO2.
AKA "what trees and other plants breathe".

I see a promo campaign here: Save the trees. Make CO2.

Of course, plants absorb CO2 and produce oxygen.

Ultimately, it is a good thing for us to check each others facts on this site. Tomorrow it will be my turn to receive...

Take care, wbill.

My husband has been saying for some time that Al Gore wants us all riding bicycles, like the folks in undeveloped countries.

Look at the upside, we wouldn't have to go to health clubs to get our exercise.

Ted Kennedy on a bike, without a seat? Oh dear God, that's a terrible mental image.

That would be one of the reasons why I like FR. No flames, no posts banned, etc etc. Just a "Hey, check this site out and rethink your conclusion."

It's rare to find a place on the web where people disagree and still have civil discourse. Not that FR doesn't have its share of trolls and idiots, but you get that with any society. The tolerance for them is pretty low.

And unlike DU and other spots, every 3rd word doesn't start with 'F'. I tell ya, FR is a pleasant place to be.

What global warming?

Take a look at the NASA data yourself...

http://data.giss.nasa.gov/gistemp/graphs/Fig.C.lrg.gif

At best there is a .2 degree Celsius rise in the past 10 years.

Who says the climate is static anyway?

Maybe we could throw all these enviromental-moonbats onto the chinese coal fires and put those bad boys out. This would take care of two problems.
1) CO2 from Chinese coal fires
2) CO2 being emmited from the word-holes of moonbats!

Look at the upside, we wouldn't have to go to health clubs to get our exercise.

Exactly what Al Gore could use.

I tell myself: "I get my health club workout for free," when I carry laundry up and downstairs and park at the distant end of parking lots and carry my mother's shower bench into the bathroom from outside the house.

It is a great way to look at life's more difficult chores.
