You are reading this right. The restrictions on broadcast ads about incumbent politicians are what I staked my career as a member of the Bar of the Supreme Court. I was so certain the Court would NEVER uphold that provision, I said I would resign from its Bar if it did that.

By a 5-4 vote the Court DID uphold that provision. So, I did resign my membership, and then published an article, "To the Supreme Court: I Quit," to say why. Now, in another 5-4 decision with O'Connor replaced by Alito, the Court has partially corrected its prior mistake.

I'm looking forward to reading that decision as soon as it is published on the Net.
