More wishful thinking. Democrats already have nominal, lapsed Catholics, those who longer believe in or live according to the tenets of their faith.
Democrats can never win the allegiance of faithful Catholics who take seriously the sacredness of human life. The right to live is the most elemental of all rights and advocacy for a larger, more generous welfare state or amnesty for illegals cannot overcome the life issue. After all, one cannot enjoy bigger welfare checks if he or she is slaughtered in the womb by a knife wielding Planned Parenthood killer who contributes some of his or her blood money to the Democratic Party.

Neither are the parishioners. Our visiting priest (we don’t have our own anymore) is a little leftist Polish guy. For the past year he’s been working social justice terminology into his talks - you know the words - “tolerance,” “diversity,” etc. We sit with a couple who are our former neighbors, nice people, and unfortunately, Democrats. Last week my husband stood up and muttered something to the couple about the priest’s leftist agenda. They looked at him in surprise and said, “Huh? What do you mean?”

They seriously do not “get it.” Unfortunately, not enough Catholics do.
