And as I leaned up to the fireplace, ^bmother inquired what the matter was. I replied, “Never mind, all is well—I am well enough off.” I then said to my mother, “I have learned for myself that Presbyterianism is not true.”

However, to be frank, my rule is, if you don't vote, you can't criticize. :)

I learned something like this in the service...

When overseas, our outfit lived offbase, for there was NO base around!

Anyway, we pitched in for food and rent and other things and would go weekly to the store to stock up.

I was one the the gofers and was ALWAYS telling the others to come and help with the buying, loading and stocking. None did.

But they sure would bit.. oops complain about what I had bought!

I kept telling them, "Come and help and we'll get whatEVER you want at the store."

They didn't, I kept buying what I wanted, and they kept on griping.

It's easy to learn to ignore them! ;^)

I was thinking of an alliteration using the word FORK.

Verses 11 and 12 speak of an actual event in Church history where portions of the translation of the manuscript of the book of Mormon was signed off on by a professor of ancient languages, but when told they could not bring the plates because they were sealed, he ripped up his endorsement and told them to go their way.

Was that professor Charles Anthon..of Columbia University?

I truly believe in Jesus Christ and by doing so, I do all I can to keep His commandments and serve others.

Even I agree with this.

It's the REQUIREMENT that sticks in my craw.

Sorry for the near death experience.

My point was that the translation you used
does not translate the passage correctly -
using he and him instead of the correct “it”.

I was pointing out that an incorrect translation
of a word has led to an item of incorrect
mormonism belief that Satan would rule over
Cain.

Not sure why that was unclear. Hope that helps.

BTW, I have yet to ever find anything Joseph
Smith “restored” to the Church that was actually
Biblical.

How many of your LDS brothers and sisters think that it is by doing works that they will attain the highest level of Heaven where they will dwell in the presence of the Heavenly Father?

Even the BOOK says this:

 John 12:25-26
 25.  The man who loves his life will lose it, while the man who hates his life in this world will keep it for eternal life.
 26.  Whoever serves me must follow me; and where I am, my servant also will be. My Father will honor the one who serves me.

 

John 14:1-3
 1.  "Do not let your hearts be troubled. Trust in God ; trust also in me.
 2.  In my Father's house are many rooms; if it were not so, I would have told you. I am going there to prepare a place for you.
 3.  And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come back and take you to be with me that you also may be where I am.
