You people? Right, people like the Old Testament prophets, and New Testament writers. People like Jesus Christ. They all made direct reference to, or alluded to, the story of Noah and the ark.

How funny. So you think that simply because a story gets repeated a lot that makes it true? Where is your Engineering study? I am waiting, but I am not holding my breath.

Biblical Christians, they are my people. Who are yours, may I ask? The Mormons? Freemasons? Atheists?

Atheists, but I used to be a Mormon.

As to the Biblical story of Noah and the flood vs the book of Mormon’s Jaredites, apples and oranges. The former was a barge-like construction for the survival of the flood only, the purpose was not to go from point A to point B.

No threatening flood when the Jaredites allegedly left, they were to go from point A to point B. So why not actual vessels with sails? Why the barge-like construction?

What is your point in comparing fables? The idea that someone built a boat and the whole earth flooded and he fed all the animals of the world for a year is a lot more ludicrous than someone building a couple of small boats to travel somewhere.

The answer is, though Mormons will never admit it, Solomon Spaulding wrote this as a fiction novel, a sort of spin off on the story of Noah and his barge-like ark. Whether or not it was feasible was of no concern to Spaulding, he was writing fiction, for heaven’s sake. Fiction the Mormons take as fact.

Have you ever read the Spaulding Novel? LOL You really don't have a clue do you?

Just so you don't forget I am still waiting for that engineering report explaining how Noah built an Ark that was capable of floating for a year, in the worst ocean known to man, feeding and caring for 40,000 animals, etc. etc. The rainbow explanation should be good too ^_^

You do realize it is a fairy tale don't you?

"rotational speed of 1,700 kph came to a screeching halt"

Exactly. That's why I pointed this one out. Logically, it's impossible.

But then so is a talking donkey.

"babbling idiots?"

Name calling... how original.

So you know that they are logically impossible, but still you believe.

What is the difference between that belief and the Muslim suicide bomber who believes that he is dying in the service of Allah? How do we convince the Muslim Zealots out there that they are killing themselves because of a fairy tale?

Do we simply have to kill them? Or is there another way? What would it take to convince you that the earth didn’t stop its rotation when Joshua raised his arms?

"So you know that they are logically impossible, but still you believe."

One Wacko Fundamentalist, at your service.

"What is the difference between that belief and the Muslim suicide bomber..."

Christians, (or Mormons, for that matter), don't tend to explode.

"... killing themselves because of a fairy tale?"

You insult the Koran! Fatwah! Fatwah! Hehee...

Agreed, the Koran is best utilized in two-ply mode.

BTW, Christians are also instructed to die for our faith. The difference is that we are to accept martyrdom rather than renounce Christ, but nowhere are we told to kill ourselves for God.

"Do we simply have to kill them?"

If you see Akmed about to blow your children up, aim for the head.

"Or is there another way?"

Headshots work best.

"What would it take to convince you that the earth didn’t stop its rotation when Joshua raised his arms?"

When I meet Joshua in Heaven, he could giggle at me, "Fell for that one, did ya'?" That would convince me.

True, Christians tend to live for their religion not die for it.

Since nothing would shake your belief in Christ, might it also be fair to say that there are Muslims who have an equal belief in Allah? They believe in spreading their belief by the sword, so is the only possible solution simply to start killing Muslims, only stopping when they are all dead?

Faith can be an incredibly powerful motivator. I hate to think that the only antidote is death.

Hey, my buddy LeGrande,

Do you mind if I jump in and post some Noah’s Ark studies
for you? I can’t say they are engineering studies, but I
Googled them up for your inquiring mind.

Here’s the first link to some info on the Sea Worthiness of the vessel.

http://www.worldwideflood.com/ark/safety_aig/safety_aig.htm

You may have difficulty sleeping after this, so here is a
brief explanation of Cargo Holding capacity, averaage
density of food, animals, etc.

http://www.worldwideflood.com/ark/cargo/cargo.htm

That should be fascinating reading for you on the night table
next to Hawkings book. You’ll have to print it out on your
own paper.

If you decide to check the calculations yourself, which I
highly recommend, here is a link to a CUBIT Calculator!

http://www.csgnetwork.com/cubitscnv.html

LeGrande, here is a discussion of how it “may” have all
worked to help put it together. They do not come up with
your 40,000 number, but interesting reading for you during
those late night hours.

http://www.creationontheweb.com/content/view/595

Finally, all Googling must come to a close due to dinners,
bathroom time, etc., since you seem very committed to this
endeavor, you might want to shell out some hard currency
and buy a book that works the calculations hard.

http://www.amazon.com/Noahs-Ark-Feasibility-John-Woodmorappe/dp/customer-reviews/0932766412

Now, to close...

I really do not know how it all worked. If it was miraculous,
I’m not thinking I have to explain it using natural
explanations - or it wouldn’t be a miracle, by definition.

In any case, I’ve tried to step in and give you what you
seem to want.

Best to you friend,
ampu

And yet you persist with that tagline.

Same God, different interpretations of just what that God is.

It is important to know ourselves and to truly know our enemy so that we can always defeat him, to paraphrase Sun Tzu. Just demonizing them won't win the war. We need to figure out how to destroy their will to fight.

I think the solution is simple. Seize the oil fields of any nation who attacks us.

It will take me a while to run through your references.

What did you think of my challenge for Noah and his family to take care of a thousand cows. Did you do the math?

"Same God, different interpretations of just what that God is."

This Allah character tells Mohamed, (Pig dung Be Upon Him), that Jesus is a mere prophet, not divine. That is a fundamental incompatibility with the Bible. (Matthew 3:17)

If Islam is true, Christianity must be false and vice-versa. They are mutually exclusive to the very core.

Now, if you want to continue this line of thought, rip out the New Testament and compare Judaism with Islam. Here too we encounter problems with trying to equate Allah with the God of Abraham, Isaac and Jacob.

For example, God never said to convert or kill everyone else to Judaism.

Where did they put all the food and water required for almost two years?

 Genesis 7:11
In the six hundredth year of Noah's life, on the seventeenth day of the second month--on that day all the springs of the great deep burst forth, and the floodgates of the heavens were opened.

 Genesis 8:13-16
 13.  By the first day of the first month of Noah's six hundred and first year, the water had dried up from the earth. Noah then removed the covering from the ark and saw that the surface of the ground was dry.
 14.  By the twenty-seventh day of the second month the earth was completely dry.
 15.  Then God said to Noah,
 16.  "Come out of the ark, you and your wife and your sons and their wives.

375 days...

Aesops fables are much more believable than some parts of the Bible.

But you only have to beluieve one part of the Bible:

John Chapter 6

28. Then they asked him, "What must we do to do the works God requires?"
29. Jesus answered, "The work of God is this: to believe in the one he has sent."

It says nothing about Him or His gospel.

You may want to do a bit more research....

On the other hand, the central theme of the Book of Mormon is Christ.

Then it's too bad that 2 Nephi 10:3 didn't get it right!

THE SECOND BOOK OF NEPHI
CHAPTER 10
Jews shall crucify their God—They shall be scattered until they begin to believe in him—America shall be a land of liberty where no king shall rule—Be reconciled to God and gain salvation through his grace. Between 559 and 545 B.C.

1 And now I, Jacob, speak unto you again, my beloved brethren, concerning this righteous abranch of which I have spoken.
2 For behold, the apromises which we have obtained are promises unto us according to the flesh; wherefore, as it has been shown unto me that many of our children shall perish in the flesh because of bunbelief, nevertheless, God will be merciful unto many; and our children shall be crestored, that they may come to that which will give them the true knowledge of their Redeemer.
3 Wherefore, as I said unto you, it must needs be expedient that Christ—for in the last night the aangel spake unto me that this should be his name—should bcome among the cJews, among those who are the more wicked part of the world; and they shall dcrucify him—for thus it behooveth our God, and there is none other nation on earth that would ecrucify their fGod.

HIS 'name' is JESUS
HIS 'title' is Messiah
CHRIST is the GREEK word for Messiah
Greek was imposed on his kingdom by Alexander the Great
Alexander was in power from 336-323 BC

Matthew 1:21. She will give birth to a son, and you are to give him the name Jesus, because he will save his people from their sins."
John 1:41.  The first thing Andrew did was to find his brother Simon and tell him, "We have found the Messiah" (that is, the Christ).

"Two personages visited me."

375 days...

They were on the sealed boat 375 days. He still had to feed and water the animals afterwords too.

Did you do the math on the space requirements for the hay required to feed a mere thousand cattle?

I know, but if we did or if they knew for a certainty that we would, we wouldn't be having the problems we have today.

If Israel could and would commit genocide in Gaza, Israel would be at peace right now.

Mercy is often confused with weakness.

For example, God never said to convert or kill everyone else to Judaism.

You are right. God just told his people to kill every man women and child, and all the animals too. They didn't even attempt conversion.

I also just finished reading a book on the Inquisition. The Christians certainly don't have very much to learn from the Muslims or the Jews. Also we were just discussing the flood, what do you think was its purpose?

My point is that there interpretations of Gods will is what is the difference between the three religions. They all profess to believe in the God of Abraham. That is why they are called the People of the Book.
