We're Doomed, I tell you, Doomed!!!
Those pictures from last night? I didn't think it required a response. I thought it was commentary on me calling myself 99% Catholic.
Sorry if I missed your point/question.
And the Mormonism Apologists ‘proof’ for godliness of their chosen adulterous false prophet, Joe Smith, reminds me of the way folks think they can get printer cartridges using the ‘easy’ button.
Actually, THAT commercial reminds me of the way the anti-Mormon crowd thinks salvation is obtained. Just hit the easy button and your set.
Yes, you are...
... unless you cross over to the good side before it's too late.
Come on over, we have cookies too.
Not wanting to be a buttinski, but I thought only Christ could judge us. See John 5:22.
IMO, Elsie, faith and works are joined. We are kept by our faith; we are kept by our works. I don’t see that one can really separate faith and righteousness; one produces the other.
That's right.
Jude 1:10-11
Yet these men speak abusively against whatever they do not understand; and what things they do understand by instinct, like unreasoning animalsthese are the very things that destroy them.
Woe to them! They have taken the way of Cain; they have rushed for profit into Balaam's error; they have been destroyed in Korah's rebellion.
We’ve listed many, Elsie, that speak of God requiring us to follow His commandments if we are to be saved. We’ve also listed many that speak of our being saved by grace.
~”Then you’ve just said that Mormonism is unneeded.”~
That’s a bit of a stretch, Elsie; but if you don’t believe you need Mormonism, then that’s fine.
We’re not talking about those who joined in the last hour and helped with the work; we’re talking about those who tried to join the job as everyone else was walking out with their wages.
Huh?
Good grief... Elsie, I’m about ready to disengage with you. It’s like trying to deal with a teenager.
“Teenager.” Greyfoxx, you might want to jot that down, too.
why do you assume these are scriptures?
~”I think it’s harder for those who have their whole culture wrapped up in Smith...”~
You might be right; I personally have never known any, so I couldn’t tell you.
You assume that we’re “wrapped up” in Smith because, when you attack him, we tend to defend him.
Try attacking Christ. See what kind of reaction you get from Mormons. He is central to our faith. Smith was just a prophet, just a man. We revere him as such; but no more.
But, then, we don’t disagree much about Christ, do we? Does it make sense, then, to belabor that point?
Jesus Christ is who I try to please. Jesus Christ is who I try to emulate. Jesus Christ is who I worship. Jesus Christ is who I try to obey. Jesus Christ is my Master, my Savior, and my King, despite my unworthiness as His servant. You have noted, haven’t you, that Mormons tend to get riled up when we’re called un-Christian?
Goodness, CC, I hope you don’t mean to imply that the LDS Church preaches circumcision? I would think you would know better than that...
You know God’s work and glory; you’ve heard it before: “to bring to pass the immortality and eternal life of man.”

The commandments, the ordinances, even Christ Himself are means to that end.
(P.S. - Where do you get the term “food stuffs” in relation to the Word of Wisdom?)
Catholics defend the popes. The Presbyterians defend John Calvin. I have never accused them of being “wrapped up”. :-)
You have massively expanded the discussion, AMPU, and, while your descriptions are essentially accurate, I don’t want to go there. My post dealt with our beliefs on “grace by faith” and “grace by faith and works.” You didn’t answer that question:
“What is so different about our positions? You have accepted Christ as your Savior and accepted His grace, and your faith is borne out by good works. I have accepted Christ as my Savior and accepted His grace, and my faith is borne out by good works, as best I can, in any case.”
~”It leads others astray from the grace of God and from
salvation.”~
How does my faith encouraging me to be a better person lead me “astray from the grace of God and from salvation?” If I have faith in Christ, who cares if I choose to do good works? How do my good works disqualify me from grace?
I threw circumscision in because it highlights the preposterousness of thinking “covenants” and ordinances are any more required of us.
As far as the WoW is concerned.....
