Maybe, but do you expect her to a) read Chinese, and B) know the significance of a seemingly innocuous slogan?
Doesn't sound much different to "Protect and Serve" which is plastered all over police cars across America.
In a similar vein, I once stood in line at Airport security behind some Eastern Europeans who had nice new Western Style hand luggage with wheels and telescopic handles that was obviously made in Eastern Europe, judging by the quality. They were no doubt totally oblivious to the significance of the Brand Name of the luggage which was written in English, presumably to look "chic"
I made sure I went through the other line from them, I didn't want to see what was going to happen when they put their shiny new bags through the X-ray machine withe the label facing up saying "SMUGGLER"......
Serve the People and the bag also had the red star of the Communists. She isn’t so young she wouldn’t have known that!
This reminds me of how Mrs. Bat and I almost continually laugh our butts off on our trips to Honolulu....the Japanese turistas get off the plane and quickly don any "Logo" t-shirt they can find to look Americanese.
I swear, I could sell 100 "Tokyo and Osaka Both Suck Bigtime" each and every day at the airport, if I were a little better at graphic design.
I see young people with shirts and such in red with a hammer and sickle occaisionally, also Che stuff. Some of them I guess are communists and socialists, but many just are totally uneducated, thanks to our public school system that does not pass judgement on such regimes.
The red star would be a flag to me not to wear it, and my homeschooled kids would know. But most young people today know the ecology flag before they know the Chinese star.
Does ANYONE really ever expect ANYTHING but faux pas, social blunders and stupidity from these Hollywood assholes?
I mean really?
