BAGHDAD, June 22 (UPI) -- Iran has responded to the U.S. surge in Iraq with its own surge, the commander of the multinational force said Friday.

Lt. Gen. Ray Odierno told journalists increased Iranian backing for Iraqi militants apparently started in March, CNN reported.

This thing of having to explain each and every tactic, added to the press’ penchant for publishing national security secrets has cost America thousands of lives in this war.

Will we ever 'win' again? Will it take another devastating attack? As if 9/11 wasn't devastating enough.

So when the whack job in Iran launches his first missile, what will the lunatics do?

They will be kissing their stinky one sheet wiped but holes, goodbye. Believe it or not, compared to the Iraq/Iran war, the Iranians have been rather restrained. They can deploy a couple hundred thousand suicide bombers anytime they want. No doubt they are scared, but they keep slowly escalating the situation in Baghdad and around Jerusalem. The draw of the Mahdi and the Spice are mighty intoxicating.

I’m not sure what the right answer is, but it was not as black and white as you claim.

The 2-part interview is posted at www.glennbeck.com

To me, we need more black and white.

1939 anyone? We have plenty of Neville Chamberlain types.

Perhaps that is it. Iran is not really frightened of the west, but they do not want to waken the west too early. An invasion of Iraq/Israel similar to the Invasion of Poland would certainly waken the west.

Yes, I thought for a moment that I had accidentally stumbled onto DU.

The Middle East has nothing to offer us but heartache and misery.

...and suicidal fanatics assembling nuclear weapons.

Now without knowing what you know now, would you have voted to execute potentially innocent goat herders?

When in doubt, take em out.

The bureaucrats in the Pentagon are clearly not wise enough to understand that a basic rule of war is never to fight under your enemy’s terms or on your foe’s turf.

As long as we provide targets for the Muslims they will come to the Iraq battlefield to snipe and ambush American troops. Muslims in other nations can also get in their licks and then melt back into the indigenous population.

instead of getting down in the sand and wrestling with each individual Muslim, we should stand back and zap the entire country with our air and naval power. When all is quiet, we should occupy and secure the oilfields and get out.

BTW Americans have no moral obligation to rebuild countries and help people who have sworn to kill us.

I wonder what part of that our experts don’t understand?

We will win only if we commit to using every tool at our disposal from day one of any future conflict. Those who would wish us ill, and are willing to try to make it happen, need to fear us and the treatment they will receive at the first sign of aggression. The world needs to know that we don’t put much stock in diplomacy. That awareness alone would make our diplomacy much more effective.

As I watched that terrible day unfold you could NEVER have convinced me that in a few short years there would be those in positions of responsibility that would forget the lesson!

Notice that the times our country made the biggest strides in winning peace was when the rest of the world thought our leader was crazy or at least unpredictable.

It would be great if America could be loved for all the wonderful things we do, and have always done, for this world. Failing in that I will be happy with respected, but if all else fails I want them to fear us!
