Can you supply me with a link to the text saying so? That’s rather remarkable, if Duke took on liability for its rogue faculty members, with no cost to the latter at all.
We currently only have 8 alpacas (more crias due this fall and in the spring) so you've definitely got me beat in the camelid department!
A question about their personality: Are they (camels) curious about things like in the way that llamas and alpacas are? Our alpacas always have to come around and check out what I'm doing and look over all my tools and such. I was clearing some brush with a chainsaw once and when I shut the saw down and turned it off, all of them had to come up and sniff it and check it out then, they had to check over all the brush I was cutting, etc., etc. I am constantly amazed by how curious they are about everything and I've heard from friends who own llamas that they are similar, but I don't know much about camels.
We have one young male (Jasper) who is likely to be one of our Farm Ambassadors. He is calm, gentle, and leads very well. We have already taken him to several gradeschool classes in the area and given talks on alpacas. The kids love him. If you would like to see some pictures you can go to my FR personal page (click my screen name) and I have the name of our farm website listed there.
Thanks for the info and the great morning wake up picture.

Duke deal shields faculty
DURHAM - Duke University’s settlement with exonerated lacrosse players gives legal protection to faculty members, some of whom have been under siege for speaking out in the wake of the gang-rape allegations.
Thanks, that’s perfect. What Duke thereby did, however, is reprehensible. (Well, I’m saying so because I’m assuming Duke will take NO internal action WHATSOEVER against any of “the 88” — not, for example, requiring them to kick in any money, much less strip them of tenure and/or fire them.
My sis was Duke ‘88 and this makes it very hard for me to cheer for Duke. Had the university settled for itself only, and not covered the butts of the 88 without cost to the latter, I’d feel differently. So unjust.
I live in the Triangle area. I wouldn’t allow my son to go to Duke.
They have NEVER apologized and I doubt they ever will.
I read somewhere, maybe here on FR, that one of the 88 received some sort of promotion. Don’t have time to find the article, maybe someone else can.
