Calif. Man Battles DMV Over Personal Plate

One guy is going head-to-head with a California DMV over his head-turning vanity license plate.

There are tens of thousands of these plates on the streets. But before it gets onto your car, it has to pass the screeners here at the DMV. It can't offensive or indecent. But there are some mistakes that hit the streets and they get about one hundred calls a year on that.

I just got new plates a couple weeks ago. They make you explain what is meant by the lettering.

I saw a girl walking her dog through the neighborhood that had that phrase spelled out in black marker across her back shoulders on Sat. morning. I don’t think she even knew it was there.

Don’t feel bad, it took a while for the VA DMV to figure it out.

Someone I knew from art school days had to get his car from Colorado Springs to Denver, but the registration had expired.

Being an excellent artist, he forged one just for the haul. (At that time, it showed as a sticker in the windshield)

Unfortunately, he parked it illegally back behind his ally and got busted when a cop discovered the forgery.
Not because it was sloppy, but because of the number he wrote:

“4Q4Q2”
