Infineon Raceway is one of the premier road racing venues in the country, and one of the few on the NASCAR Winston Cup Series circuit. The facility first opened in 1968 and serves as the gateway to the beautiful and scenic Sonoma Valley, which serves as one of the top wine-producing regions in the world.

The entire Hendricks team is a bunch of cheaters. I don’t like Jeff Goron, but he is an extremely talented driver. It’s too bad he will always have an asterisk next to his name in the wins and championships as his team cheats. Knaus just gets caught more.
To all the Hendrick bashers.
I would like to point out the COT is a new car, there is a learning curve, there are gray areas that come with this car that are NOT in the rule book.
I really don’t think they were intentionally CHEATING.
Yes maybe pushing the envelope, how else to you succeed in this business which is so competitive?
News could be posted without the name calling etc.
Not to worry, they will be penalized just like Eury Jr and Jr were for their brackets which were also NOT intentional. No practice, no qualifying and they have until practice tomorrow to get the car fixed and inspected. That’s tough in itself, then add in what they will get next Tuesday.
If Nascar wants this truck of a car to be on the track faster than normal they need to give the teams a little leeway with stuff that doesn’t fit their stupid template.
The problem today was a small bump up in the front fenders between the outside measurements which was not specified in the rule book, the areas that were specified passed inspection.
Finally, there are some folks that don’t post on the Nascar threads anymore because of the bad mouthing of various teams and drivers. I’m the only one brave enough to stick up for what I feel is wrong here. JMO feel free to flame away.
I’m there with ya...IF they were outside the template coverage zone, then how the heck can that be cheating? I’m sick of Nutscar
From the AP story...GIVE ME A BREAK!! What "THEY" want to see in the template??? So they have a template given to the crews to build against, and then they build to it, but it's not what they want to see??? I give up...
Their COT template contraption has claws to measure various points on the car which both cars met. However, in between the claws somehow didn’t.
I just mentioned to someone else on another site that I wish Nascar would take their COT and stick it somewhere. :)
Other people are suggesting Nascar build the body and hand them out like they do the plates at the RP tracks. LOL and then the sport will be getting about the same viewer numbers as roller derby.
Even tho my driver is #1...I am rapidly losing any future interest in Nutscar. I even cancelled our annual trip to the races.
G
NASTYCAR has been very heavy handed with tech issues and not nearly enough with behavior problems.
I can’t believe GRRRRR canceled a trip to the track. :(
BTW both cars have now passed the claw and other various inspections within and without the rule book.

SONOMA, Calif. - The cars of Hendrick Motorsports drivers Jeff Gordon and Jimmie Johnson have now passed the portion of inspection that they failed earlier today.
The teams have corrected the front-fender issues that NASCAR had with the cars. NASCAR parked Gordon and Johnson from practice and qualifying today at Infineon Raceway.
Hendrick Motorsports Vice President Doug Duchardt said that the team thought it could expose an area of the fender that does not touch the template.

I only half agree. From what I read, the 24 and 48 share one garage and the 5 and 25 share another. Notice that it is only the 24 and 48 that were caught.
Rick Hendrick is dishonest, but I wouldn't paint all four teams that way.
Junior thinks he is improving his lot going to HMS, but in all likelihood he will be in the second garage. I think SlowCasey's success has been flukish, and we really don't know if Shrub's success has been because of equipment or talent or how much of both.
What bothered me watching NASCAR Live! was seeing the members of the 24 and 48 teams smugly grinning after coming out of their meeting with NASCAR. I find that disrespectful. >:-<
The other thing I found of interest is that it was reported on NASCAR Now that none of the other teams in the garage were surprised HMS got caught cheating.
HMS: "Racing With Integrity."
Are you here for qualifying, if so I will stay. :)
What happened to Mikey I was typing??
Jr goes out 43rd :)
I'll wager that they'll find a way to not give them the 6-race/100 driver's points/100 owner's points/$100K fine treatment (not that it matters; they'll still be 1A and 1B after Richmond unless somebody goes on a 4-to-5-win streak). What this does, however, is irreparably screw any plans to repeat the 100-point deductions on Kenseth after the Chase reset.
Terry Labonte sits in the 55 this week.
It’s gonna be a long night ta finish Q!
Oh that’s right.
That Monster Energy car is cool looking.
I know, I may not make it to the end. That’s the problem with California races.
I'm out of here soon too.
I didn’t pick him or JPM this week simply because I don’t trust either one to finish. Sorry Crash I like you as a person, but not sure on the equipment. :(
