Katie Couric Demands 'You Have to Respect' Jimmy Carter For Sticking to Principles

On her blog, CBS anchor Katie Couric is once again offering her love and kisses to Jimmy Carter. In a "Katie Couric's Notebook" video (which airs on some CBS affiliates as an Evening News promo), Couric used the occasion of Carter being awarded an honorary doctorate of civil law from Oxford to demand of viewers that "you have to respect him for sticking to his principles." Tell that to President Bush. She began by citing another Carter cheerleader:

“No I don’t.”

You took my line, so I will just say...”No Katie-—NEVER!”

Hitler stuck to his principles. I bet Katie also respects Hitler.

I was just about to say the same thing. History is ripe with despots who "stuck to their principles." When a person's principles are grounded in evil, sticking to them is harmful to the rest of us.

I know this will cause tremendous cognitive dissonance for a liberal, to a life-threatening/head-exploding extent, but here goes:

Some principles are b-a-d.

Just like “you gotta respect” Bubba for never giving up on his lifetime quest for nookie.

“you have to respect him for sticking to his principles.”

That is a ludicrous suggestion. Someone’s principles can be based on misinformed, idiotic ideas, yet we should still respect their point of view? My ex-wife had the same notion that I should respect her opinions no matter how absurd they were or regardless of whether or not they were totally devoid of common sense. Nuts.

I refuse to “validate the feelings” of those people with stupid, indefensible opinions, Jimmy Carter and my ex-wife included.

I don’t recall Dan Rather having a blog wherein he espoused his political points of view. At least he had the temerity to pretend it was just news.

It’s bad when one isn’t even as clever as Dan Rather.

In an effort to salvage her sagging CBS ratings, Katie produced yet another special based on her nationally televised, award-winning (the prestigious Sphincter Cup) colonoscopy of several years ago.

Unfortunately, so much of the footage was found to contain images such as the still seen here that it was rendered unusable and the project had to be s**tcanned.

Katie told interviewers later that this is how she spends much of her free time as this is where she gets some of her best program ideas. She cited her interview with Hillary Clinton as a prime example.

Principles???

PRINCIPLES???????

Carter doesn’t need no stinking principles!!!!

If Carter ever had any principles, this country would be better off today. Hostages would not have been held for 444 days.

Couric wouldn’t recognise a principle if it was part of her latest colon screening insertion.

This is a love fest between morons.

To days IBD compares BBC’s now firmly established left wing liberal, anti American bias with:
And, oh, how that multi million-dollar smile would vanish from Katie Couric’s face if her fondness for Al Gore was publicly described by a CBS exec as a “teenage fascination.”
Investors Business Daily goes on that in this country media elites have been exposed for a long time for what they are.

And with crap like that coming out of Couric - she (and her employer CBS) has the grace to wonder why her newscast is in 11th place in a field of 3? Lordy!
