Most people are fairly reasonable. Nobody likes paying taxes, but they are a necessity and the vast majority of people realize that. The "vast majority" of Americans don't pay net taxes, so what you say is probably true. But for those who do, especially those like these folks who are in the top 5%, it is just a little harder to realize. When you pay more than half your income to fund socialist programs that are against everything you stand for it is hard to realize; when you watch those who made poor decisions prosper while your dreams just keep getting pushed aside for another year it ain't easy; when you know you could retire this year at 40 without the confiscatory tax rate and live off your investments, but instead have to work for many more years.

Our current tax system is a socialist wet dream. The elite take from the producers and give to the leeches while they sit above the masses and gloat.

*ping*

Of course nobody wants to pay taxes, especially on pork barrel spending.
However, I’ve lived in NH for 25 years and this kook gives the LIVE FREE OR DIE state a bad name. His wife is a business owner. Therefore, they can take advantage of tax loopholes much better than the average worker getting a W2 form.
They knew the tax laws in the US and made millions off her dental practice. If they didn’t want to pay income taxes, they should move to some foreign country and see if they can make millions there practicing dentistry.

Exactly how do you figure that the "vast majority of Americans don'y pay net taxes"?
Even those with incomes under $10k average an 8.33% tax rate when you consider income tax + social security + medicare + unemployment - EITC - food stamps, etc...

Income bracket Average income per tax return % of total federal tax burden Effective tax rate
<$10k $4242 0.42% 8.33%
$10k-20k $14958 1.60% 7.30%
$20k-30k $24872 3.80% 12.58%
$30k-40k $34876 5.80% 16.28%
$40k-50k $44580 6.50% 17.81%
$50k-75k $60787 16.70% 20.26%
$75k-100k $86302 14.70% 22.78%
$100k-200k $130357 23.0% 25.07%
>$200k $501290 27.5% 28.19%

Just because someone isn't paying high income taxes doesn't mean they aren't getting taxed elswhere. The income tax is highly progressive, but there are some highly regressive taxes out there as well...
