Georgia state representative from the Atlanta has switched from the Democratic to the Republican Party, bolstering the wide GOP majority in the state House of Representatives.

"My strong belief in fiscal responsibility and restraint... is not a good fit within the Democratic Caucus in the House of Representatives," Rep. Mike Jacobs, R-Atlanta, wrote in an entry on his blog Tuesday morning.

Rep. Jacobs' move to the Republican Party increases the GOP House majority to 107, and reduces the Democratic minority to 73 members.

House Democrats criticized the move as opportunistic.

Jacobs is also Jewish and said he was distressed about the growing anti-semetism within the Democratic party (HINT: fellow Georgian Jimmy Carter)

That's what he should have said. It isn't like he'll be finding much fiscal restraint in the GOP.

Leave it to the Democrats to make the Republicans look like they exhibit financial restraint. Everything is relative, I guess.

I believe every politician holding office that changes parties should have to resign and campaign again for their seat.

Just imagine the headlines if this fella had been a Republican switching to the rodents, “Ex-GOP lawmaker, Anti-Semitism drove me to the Democrats !” Since he isn’t, this story will be predictably buried.

The ugly truth about hate is that it is a cancer that infects all people regardless of color. I bet the liberal blacks are what drove Jacobs to the GOP. Many Southern Blacks are do harbor anti-semetic feelings (remember Billy McKinley & Earl Hillard).

Not just Southern Blacks, it’s an epidemic in the Black community, and has been for a long time. The anti-Semitism/anti-Zionism of ultra-RINO Senator Chuck Percy in Illinois helped him carry heavily Democrat Black Chicago precincts over Roman Pucinski when he ran for reelection in 1972, probably one of the most egregious examples. Fortunately we showed trash like that the door, but at the cost of replacing them with Democrats (in the case of Percy, Paul Simon — in the case of downstate buffoon “Arafat’s best friend in Congress” Paul Findley, Dick Durbin).
