Colorado for Equal Rights files Pro-Life Amendment June 19th, 2007

Today Colorado for Equal Rights filed language with the Colorado Legislative Council to start the process of a ballot initiative for the November 2008 election, which will grant rights of personhood from conception.

This proposed amendment to the Colorado Constitution states, “As used in Article II, Sections 3, 6, and 25 of the Colorado Constitution, the words “person” and “persons” shall include any human being from the moment of fertilization.”

That will drive the pro-aborts apesh*t. Nothing like waving a red flag in front of the maddened Culture Of Death Left.

Even if it doesn’t pass it is a good thing , not only for advancing the concept of personhood but for giving the pro-death crowd one more chance in front of the cameras and microphones to show how absurd they and their positions are.

I agree and will even raise awareness of this effort within my church and to my church leaders. Perhaps there will be enough of a grass roots effort that the baby killers will have to spend lots of money to try and defeat the issue.

From the moment of conception until the moment of death, ALL PEOPLE have inalienable rights and these rights come from God, not government and it is the function of government to protect these rights.

I think that talking about whether the preborn should have rights, and whether it is a person or not will allow us to frame the issue in a way that could lead to great results. Anything is possible with God.

Just look at an ultrasound of a preborn baby, and you will see he/she is a PERSON!

Here is how I try to sum up the whole "personhood" thing:

Life begins at conception—NOT birth.
Birth is one day in the life of a person who is already nine months old.

The operative word being "person" as defined by the Declaration of Independence, The US Constitution and subsequent Amendments.

It seems the briefest way to encapsulate the whole position in an easy to remember two sentences. Please feel free to forward it around. It would be cool to see it spread like a web virus.

Blackmun himself stated in Roe v. Wade, “If this suggestion of personhood is established, the appellant’s case, of course, collapses, for the fetus’ right to life would then be guaranteed specifically by the Amendment.” And the pro-aborts agreed: Blackmun’s next statement is, “The appellant conceded as much on reargument.”

Good. I’m glad it’s being presented as an equal rights issue. It’s in-line with this nation’s desire for civil rights for all.

And the text takes away the inane talking point of the far-left pro-aborts as to what a “person” is, which they use to justify de-humanizing the preborn child in order to justify the termination of said child.
