It's happening again! A spouse attempting to have a spouse starved and dehydrated to death. This time it is in Arizona.
News reports state that on May 30th, Jesse Ramirez and his wife Rebecca were in the mist of an argument, when he lost control of the SUV they were driving in, which resulted in a roll over crash. Both were ejected from the vehicle. Jesse, 36, reportedly suffered critical injuries, which include a broken neck and head injuries, while Rebecca, 33, suffered only minor injuries.
AZcentral.com's "To keep him alive or let him die?" by Rich Dubek and Kevin Kennedy, 12 News (June. 13, 2007 11:37 PM) reports, "Last Thursday, Jesse underwent surgery. On Friday, Rebecca Ramirez moved him to a hospice facility and made the decision to pull his feeding tube. She refuses to talk to 12 News but Jesse's mother Theresa says "he deserves a chance to live, and she (Rebecca) won't listen."
Dubek and Kennedy further reported, "An attorney with the Alliance Defense Fund, a group which supports pro-life causes, is representing the family. They say while Rebecca Ramirez has certain rights as a spouse, they question whether she is the right person to decide Jesse's fate considering their marital problems. Attorneys also say Rebecca does not have written power of attorney to remove Jesse's feeding tube. "
I would have to agree with the attorney and family.
According to News5's "Judge Orders Life Support For Patient" (POSTED: 6:17 am PDT June 15, 2007 & UPDATED: 4:00 pm PDT June 15, 2007), "Maricopa County Superior Court Judge Paul Katz ruled Thursday that the feeding should continue and Jesse Ramirez be given resuscitation if necessary."
The report continues, "Katz ordered that an independent attorney charged with being Jesse Ramirez's advocate investigate the matter and come up with recommendations for resolving it."
"Katz also scheduled a June 26 hearing on the matter."
Also included in the report by News5, "Ramirez, 33, has said she does not want her husband to live if he could not care for himself."
Why? Is she worried that she will be required, as his wife, to care for him? Nevertheless, she was reported as saying "she does not want", rather than "Jesse not wanting". Her wanting could be totally irrelevant to the case. After all, it is "his wanting about himself" that is what is important here and in every other case.
Luckily, Jesse Ramirez is in Arizona, rather than Florida with George Felos as his wife's attorney and Judge George Greer presiding over the case, or in Texas with the futile care law. At least in Arizona, under the jurisdiction of Judge Katz, it appears he has a chance of having a chance. A chance to survive and heal, if that is his possibility! When did that become too much to ask?
Just wait until the culture of death shows up with their vultures.

In 1999, 10.4% of the severely cognitively impaired residents of the United States were starved and dehydrated to death.
In 2000, 11.0% of the severely cognitively impaired residents of the United States were starved and dehydrated to death.
In 2001, 11.4% of the severely cognitively impaired residents of the United States were starved and dehydrated to death.
I haven't found data yet for other years, but I think it's a fair guess that the killings continue to climb.
This doesn't represent a percentage of patients who died (which would be bad enough). It doesn't mean that 11.4% of the patients who died were starved and dehydrated. It means 11.4% of all the people living in the U.S.A. with severe cognitive impairments were killed this way. And it doesn't include the ones who were killed using other methods, such as denial of antibiotics for simple infections, removal of breathing assistance, etc.
The standard used for determining severe cognitive impairment for the purpose of this study is a score of 5 or less on the Mini Mental State Examination (MMSE). Patients in a coma or PVS cannot possibly score 1, much less 5. You've probably seen people in the grocery store with a score of 5 or less. So these killings include a wide range of brain damaged people. I wonder how many thousands of people are living with a score of 5 or less. And for every 1,000 people living with a score of 5 or less in the year 2001, 114 of them were starved and dehydrated to death that year.
All I have before me are the percentages. I'd like to see the corresponding numbers. Or would I?
Following is the breakdown by state for 2001. Notice that Rhode Island tops the list, with just over a third of that population exterminated this way. That might have something to do with the fact that RI has appointed the pro-euthanasia group Choice in Dying the official State agency in charge of informing the public about end-of-life choices. They supply forms for living wills and assist the public in filling out those forms. This is what happens when you put the fox in charge of the henhouse.
Believe it or not, Florida and Texas are both below the national average. Every state is on the list. Georgia is at the bottom of the list, exterminating only 1.30% this way. But like I said, this doesn't include people who were exterminated using other methods.

Facts On Dying ~ This study was funded by The Robert Wood Johnson Foundation, who adamantly opposes the rights of vulnerable people to continue living. So if any trolls show up, complaining that the data is skewed in favor of life, check the facts and get back to me.
What a sad story! I would advise anyone on FR to complete a will and written instructions regarding matters such as this story. Most young adults haven’t taken care of these important matters.....they’re still unbreakable at this age!
Just be careful about a will, and don’t trust you doctor or lawyer’s opinions. Trust your own gut. You know what you want more than they do.
A “Will to Live” is better than a “Living Will” and can be downloaded to be used, or just used as an example, from www.nrlc.org.
Always make sure you know what you’re getting into with a “living will.” For instance, if you say: “I don’t want to be on a respirator,” it could mean one thing if it would only prolong an imminent death for months or years, and another thing if it would only be needed for 48 or more hours after an accident, and one could be restored to normal health.
The MSM will never stop lying about Terri. Everyone since w with brain damage is always never like Terri.
Funny how those talking heads can diagnose all these people from their ANCHOR CHAIRS.
Terri was murdered. Sounds like wife wants to collect on insurance policy.... sound familiar?
Do we know freepers there who can contact his parents? Why can’t we do something if our assistance is offered and accepted?
This is shocking:ORGAN DONORS are alive and aware when organ stripping is begun. They can feel pain. A woman donated her son's organs and learned that he could feel the pain of the stripping process. I think transplants are barbaric. I'm just sayin'.
Outsource Judge Greer. This is his specialty. (sarcasm tag). The man is cursed.
Write or call: Shifty, Cunning, Meanie & Devious, esq., atty's at law, with offices near you. 24/7 service. No questions asked.
(I'd like to say this was "sarcasm"...)
Folks from FR will take care of him...they have compassion...
The law does not recognize this as an issue, and it greatly complicates end-of-life bedside practice.
What’s the big deal? There are too many people in the US anyway.
Felons and Dethnell will answer all phones.
Too true.
Many lawyers and doctors are 100% ignorant as to the true function of a “living will”.
It is NOT a kill me document, it is very simply a document to express the desires of the person. Thus a living will can easily say “keep me alive”. Most of the freebies on the net are the “kill me” types.
So, in what specific instances do you think it is acceptable for a spouse (or any other interested person for that matter) to decide that your life is "no longer worth living" and that the most "compassionate" solution is to kill you?
Specific?
And who are all these folks you pinged?
