Mr. President, Tear Down That Fence!

Mr. President, tear down that fence! Posted: June 19, 2007 1:00 a.m. Eastern

Mr. President, tear down that fence! I'm not talking about the fence around our borders; they never got around to finishing that. I'm talking about the fence around the White House. Hey, if you're going to lead us to vulnerability, at least lead by example.

And those sharpshooters on the roof? They're fine. They look all official and everything, but the new immigration-like policy is: They're not allowed to shoot anyone. And if one of those men in black happen to interfere with someone committing criminal trespass (make that an "undocumented White House visit") they'll be in a cell right next to Ignacio Ramos and Jose Compean, who committed the very same crime while patrolling the U.S. border.

In fact, from now on, in accordance with the new "lead by example" amendment to the Senate immigration bill, all trespassers will get instant amnesty for themselves and their families – and be allowed to pitch a tent right there on the White House lawn. Federal courts will also entertain discrimination lawsuits for those who've been denied access to the Lincoln Bedroom and whose funds don't accommodate an office that's oval.

(Column continues below)

Oh, and that White House dinner in the State Dining Room? Break out the presidential china all the way back to the Washington administration, because in addition to heads of state, you're going to have a few (million) more guests. They'd also like a piece of what's left of the twins' college fund. We can't possibly penalize the children of these undocumented tourists.

What about the security risk to the commander in chief? Look, we can't possibly round up all the people in America who dislike the president. Don't be naïve. It's just not feasible. Quit fear-mongering.

And get Henry Paulson, the secretary of the treasury on the line, we're going to need to change all our bills and coins. Instead of "E Pluribus Unum" (out of many, one), they will now read: "Don't Deport-um, Join-um" (make us one big Mexico). And, while you're on the phone, you may want to call your brother Jeb (he speaks Spanish, doesn't he?) because you're going to need his help translating just to get around.

That's how I felt when flying into Miami last week. I complimented the little girl next to me on her coloring. She looked at me puzzled until I said one of the few Spanish words I know: "bonita." I found it ironic that the only other word I recognized on the whole plane ride was voiced during the Spanish "how to buckle your seatbelt" video. It was the name of the airline: American. But even that was said with a Spanish accent.

It was like that throughout the airport when I couldn't find a single English-speaking person of whom to ask directions. Then, when someone asked directions of me (I assume that's what they were doing), they were actually upset that I couldn't understand the language of their Third World city.

Tom Tancredo had it right. In a letter to former Governor Jeb Bush, Tancredo wrote:

Do you not worry that Miami's "sanctuary city" rules serve as a magnet for illegal aliens and undercut the state's otherwise sound law enforcement policies? Do you worry that a recent random community survey on "Miami values" found that corruption was listed as the No. 1 "value" by residents?

The only thing worse than flying into Miami is getting lost while driving there. Like the 20,000 residents who flee Miami each year, I try to avoid going there – with all the signs and billboards in Spanish, there was a moment when I wondered if I had enough cash for the police should I get stopped for a traffic violation.

The good news is Tancredo's doing something about it. His amendment to the Department of Homeland Security appropriations bill passed the House on Friday 234-189 to withhold federal emergency-services funding from "sanctuary cities" that protect illegal aliens. A political stunt to gain support in the presidential primary? Hardly – this is the eighth time he's introduced it.

I love our president, but it seems as if he has lost his way. How I would have loved to see the president on the Hill strong-arming senators to vote for things like … the Marriage Amendment. But he wasn't passionate about that. How I would have cheered had he exercised his veto on out-of-control spending. But that didn't happen, either. He'd rather turn his back on 85 percent of his base and the majority of the country to join his father's "New World Order." Mr. President? We don't share your globalist views.

We don't want a "North American Union"; we want the United States of America.

We want an America that welcomes legal immigrants and helps them to learn our language, our history and our values. We want an America that doesn't reward lawbreakers. And punish law enforcers. We want an America that decides whom to invite rather than being bullied by those who force their way in. After all, respect for our law when coming to our country is the first sign of whether they'll respect our laws once they're here.

Mr. President: You do not have our permission to break the bank to fund the Amexican Dream. Not unless you first lead by example and tear down the White House fence.

Do you remember our elected officials running from the capitol in fear because a small plane strayed too close?

Compare that to their lack of concern for border security for some insight into what kind of people we’ve elected.

Yes, please do lead by example. By all means, tear down your protective fence, lose the sharpshooters, send your Cabinet home(and replace them with illiterate illegals), give yourself a tax hike to pay for their medical expenses, etc. I'd like to see that happen - almost as much as I would love to see Bush grow a pair and listen to the electorate for a change.

Senate Proposal is Full of Holes Sen. Jeff Sessions (R-Ala.) has been a stalwart proponent of curbing illegal immigration and reforming the legal immigration apparatus in a truly meaningful manner. To that end, on June 4, in the middle of the first round of floor debate on the so-called “grand bargain” immigration bill, Sen. Sessions issued a press releaselisting egregious loopholes in the proposal, including “flaws effecting border security, chain-migration and assimilation policies.” In prefacing the list, Sen. Sessions indicated that he is “deeply concerned about the numerous loopholes found in this legislation,” which he sees as “more than technical errors, but rather symptoms of a fundamentally flawed piece of legislation that stands no chance of actually fixing our broken immigration system.” Furthermore, Sen. Sessions said, “Many of the loopholes are indicative of a desire not to have the system work.”

Flaw No. 1: Sen. Sessions pointed to perhaps the biggest flaw by noting that the “ ‘enforcement trigger’ fails to require the U.S. VISIT system – the biometric border check-in/check-out system established by Congress in 1996, but never implemented – to be fully functioning before new worker or amnesty programs begin. Without the system in place, the U.S. has no method of ensuring that workers and their families do not overstay their visas.”

Flaw No. 2: While most Americans tell pollsters they want less immigration, this bill dramatically increases overall immigration. It TRIPLES chain migration through the year 2016 – all the while sanctioning a mass importation of low-skill foreign workers and, by extension, a mass importation of poverty into this country.

Flaw No. 3: Illegal aliens get “legal status before enforcement” begins;

Flaw No. 4: The “triggers” require “no more agents, beds, or fencing than current law” mandates;

Flaw No. 5: The completion of background checks, including checks against criminal and terrorist databases, is “not required for” the granting of amnesty (in this bill, it is referred to as “probationary status”);

Flaw No. 6: Criminals of all kinds – including gang members, some child molesters, and absconders (i.e., “aliens who have already had their day in court [and who are now] subject to…removal” [covering “more than 636,000 fugitives”]) are eligible for the bill’s mass amnesty;

Flaw No. 7: “Illegal aliens with terrorism connections are not barred from getting amnesty. An illegal alien seeking most immigration benefits must merely show ‘good moral character.’”

Flaw No. 8: Illegal aliens granted amnesty or guestworkers imported via the new “Y” “temporary worker” program can claim the Earned Income Tax Credit, which “will cost taxpayers billions in just 10 years”;

Flaw No. 9: “Affidavits from friends” are acceptable as evidence of satisfying requirements for amnesty, thus “invit[ing] fraud and more illegal immigration”;

Flaw No. 10: “In-state tuition and other higher education benefits…will be made available to current illegal aliens that are granted [amnesty], even if the same instate tuition rates are not offered to all U.S. citizens,” a violation of current Federal law, which “mandates that educational institutions give citizens the same postsecondary education benefits they offer to illegal aliens”;

Flaw No. 11: New visas are created for individuals who are prone to overstaying their period of authorized admission – namely, the new “parent” visa, which allows parents of citizens, and the spouses and children of new temporary workers, to visit a worker in the United States. Not only is this term “a misnomer, but also an invitation for high rates of visa overstays” because it “specifically allows the spouse and children of new temporary workers who intend to abandon their residence in a foreign country, to qualify to come to the U.S. to ‘visit.’” To obtain the visa, one must only post a $1,000 bond, “which will be forfeited when, not if, family members of new temporary workers decide to overstay their 30 day visit. Workers should travel to their home countries to visit their families, not the other way around”;

Flaw No. 12: To be granted amnesty, illegal aliens need not pay back income taxes;

Flaw No. 13: Social Security credits for work done while in the United States illegally will be granted to “[a]liens who came to the U.S. on legal visas, but overstayed their visas and have been working in the U.S. for years, as well as illegal aliens who apply for Z visa status but do not qualify”; and

Flaw No. 14: “The criminal fines an illegal alien is required to pay to receive amnesty are less than the bill’s criminal fines for paperwork violations committed by U.S. citizens, and can be paid by installment,” which means that “the fine for illegally entering, using false documents to work, [is] one-tenth the fine for a paperwork violation committed by a government official.”

I was on jury duty the week of 12/11/06 and one of my fellow jurors told me that her nephew was killed a year earlier by two illegals DRIVING their truck with FAULTY BRAKES to the BRAKE SHOP to be repaired when – surprise, surprise — the BRAKES FAILED AND THEY KILLED HER NEPHEW. I guess these MORONS thought they were back in Mexico where – in addition to driving DRUNK — they and their idiot friends do crap like that all the time. Can you say “Tijuana Taxi?” Can you say “TOW TRUCK?”

The driver got 4 years in prison and will be deported when he gets out.

Gotta wonder how long it will take him to sneak back in and kill someone else?
Estimates indicate they are killing around 25 American citizens each day, either with vehicles or via other criminal activity.

I can’t wait until the interstates start filling up with Mexican truckers on tight deadlines – and I do mean DEADlines – hurtling at carloads of unsuspecting native-born American citizens – all 387 of us.

Do you suppose this crap might stop if one of Bush’s daughters became a victim?

Of course, unlike the rest of us, they are driven to their endless round of parties by an armed SS detail, which eliminates the risk that they will be tempted to drive drunk themselves or be mugged or raped.

Maybe there’s extra room at the ranch,you know in Crawford,that GW and family could set aside for some of the new citizens,kinda like a “Homestead” program where the new citizens could rope off house lots and start building their houses (funded by HUD) of course !!!

And the elitist senators can remove the walls surrounding their compounds. Theres no risk by not having those walls, and their armed security guards.

That's because they have undercut the legitimate businesses who played by the rules and paid workman's comp, taxes, insurance and such.
