Apparently, gay rights activists arent serious about their demand that government stay out of the bedroom. Instead of advocating privacy for homosexuals, at least one gay man is making a career out of destroying it.
Yahoo! News began an article about Mike Rogers, owner of BlogActive.com, with the words Members of the 110th Congress, consider yourselves warned: Mike Rogers is making his list. Called the most dangerous man in Washington, Rogers uses his blog to out gay conservatives who dont want to be outed.
His victims include Dan Gurley, the former field director for the Republican National Committee, Senators Larry Craig and Barbara Mikulski, and Representatives Ed Schrock and David Drier. It doesnt bother Rogers that many of his outings are based solely on hearsay. According to him, he has a moral duty to violate alleged homosexuals privacy because if congressman X thinks that gay people shouldn't have equal rights but goes home and is having sex with men, and not disclosing that, then we have a problem."
Alright, fine. I suppose I can accept the argument that prominent politicians risk having their bedroom habits scrutinized no matter what theyre up to. Its an occupational hazard. But what about gay activists who make a sport of humiliating closet homosexuals who have no direct influence on Americas domestic policy?
Consider Rogers horrifying June 12 blog post, in which he targets Rep. Tom Tancredos 18-year-old webmaster, Tyler Whitney. Yes, you read that right: Whitney is fresh out of high school. After posting his picture and a link to his MySpace page, Rogers spends a paragraph sneering at Whitney, sarcastically calling him a real winner. Then he announces that Whitney is a closet homosexual.
After posting a link to an article bearing the apparently earth-shattering news that Tancredos teenage webmaster is gay, Rogers expresses phony concern for him: I feel sad for Whitney and I worry what he might do. Up to 1/2 of teen suicides are of gay and lesbian teenagers struggling with their own sexual orientation.
In the event that Whitney really is contemplating suicide, being ridiculed on a popular blog should really help. What effect does a webmaster have on Americas policy on gay rights?
The practice of outing gays who dont want to be outed is not meant to fill some noble goal, as Rogers and his ilk would like us to believe. It is used to harass and humiliate gays who dont subscribe to the radical leftist agenda.
Rogers isnt the first activist to embrace this kind of behavior. In February 2005, The New York Times used its op-ed page to out the children of several prominent conservatives.
These people are not public figures. Theyre not even necessarily conservatives. But because they associate with people who are, their sex lives become fodder for left-wing blogs and gossip rags.
This is how liberals demonstrate their renowned commitment to gays dignity. As long as the homosexual in question embraces the left-wing agenda, they are safe. If he dares to express dissident views or spends time with people who do liberals will investigate his private life, find out what kind of videos he rents, and report the results as if they were front-page news.
So much for privacy.
I want to finish by saying that I generally support gay rights. The idea of homosexual marriage doesnt bother me one bit, and Ive already written columns voicing my support for gay adoption. I strongly believe that what goes on between adults, in their own homes, is none of the governments business. But I also believe its none of Mike Rogers business.
Once again, the gay rights activists have shown their moral bankruptcy.
Ashley Herzog is a junior at Ohio University, studying journalism, and lives in Avon Lake, Ohio.
I'm not fond of the guy's squishy Lindsey Graham-like views on illegal immigration, but gay he is not. A family friend's son clerked for him. He has a wife and three kids and is definitely not gay or even close.
Probably none of those mentioned in the article is gay. And if so, what business is that of this Mike Rogers
This person is pathetic.
If people dont want to come “out” that is their personal business and none of this Peterheads.

In a just world someone would get a hold of Rogers’ medical records and reveal publicly how often he’s had to get his ass fixed. Then he’d understand what privacy is.
Many times they get themselves into that situation. There are some grant and fund raising options open for homosexuals. If they don’t adhere to the terms of the money, some of the conditions are being outed.
That is their own fault for signing contracts like that.
Remember when “not coming out” was considered tactful?
It’s still tactful imo
An interesting article.
I do not support gay marriage. It ain’t real marriage. As far as gay adoption goes, I think that it works with lesbians, but it is almost inconceivable with gay men (most of whom don’t stay together long enough to do much parenting).
There are gay conservatives, some of whom are famous cases. I also know a few who never became widely known, or who (in one case) conceled his political conservatism. I will not “out” these good people myself, but it gives me a chuckle when gays promote as one of their heroes a man who I know to be as conservative politically as almost anyone on this list!
I think that we all know how hypocritical liberals can be, and it is one of the things (among others) which makes them dangerous. One day they will be for “openness” and gay rights, and the public will be starting to buy into this movement as something humane. The next day they will be arresting people who dare say something “demeaning” about homosexuality. It makes it almost impossible for anybody to have a balanced, honest approach which acknowledges obvious facts. It also makes traditional standards of respectful politeness almost impossible.
This thread is so gay.
Wait a minute — I always thought that being homosexual was a source of pride...witness all the parades and festivals in West Hollywood, CA, for example...always “PRIDE” banners. Yet this guy thinks that these Congress critters and others should be shamed and embarrassed by his outing of them. I sense a discrepancy. What is the matter here??? </s>
For more than 20 years - since the page scandal of the 80’s - those rumors have dogged Larry. Many people in Idaho believe them.
It BECOMES my business when morons like this activist keep shoving it in my face. And HE is the one I will go after.
This “outfest” smacks of the same “crime” Sen. Joseph McCarthy was accused of, targeting innocents.
Zogbyism is the media’s own attempts to try members of the Republican party in print and oust them from office.
The Crucible needs to be staged again and the tactics of the Stalinist Left exposed.
The Democrats called Mark Foley a child molester in 2006 so they could win back control of Congress and wanted an investigation into the aide program while at the same time celebrating a recently deceased liberal congressman who defiantly remained in office when his affair with a staffer was discovered. The Left also demands that (single) gay men be allowed to be Boy Scout troop leaders (unescorted).
This was not enough for the DNC, they had to label the GOP corrupt claiming that they “knew” about problems with Foley and did not act, while the DNC and the media they COLLUDE with sat on even more information for over a year to maximize political efficiency.
And in the end, some of the scare stories proved to be false. Inuendo out of control.
But that is what the Left is hoping to accomplish here. This isn’t about hypocrisy. This is about political vendettas. A pure Gaystapo tactic.
As in the 20% of moonbat Democrats? The young man I know worked on his staff. If anyone knows, he would. This young man was with him from early morning to late night, attended church with him and was a guest in his home. He is neither blind nor stupid.
Yeah, Larry helped him get a good job after the internship was over . . . but only insofar as a name to call for an interview. The young man is a good worker and now married with a child, so I'm more than certain he's on the level. As would his relationship be with Larry Craig.
I tend to agree with your analysis.
That said, there are stories that swirl around Craig going back to his time in the House, way back in teh seventies and eighties.
The thing that bothers me is that as a general rule I do not know of any public figure that has stories over time about being gay who in fact turn out not to be gay. So, assuming Craig is not and has never been gay, this would be a first in my experience.
All that said, though, excluding recent open borders stuff, Larry Craig is about as good a Senator as we could ever hope for.
