The preamble of our Constitution says, "We the People of the United States, in Order to form a more perfect Union, establish Justice, insure domestic Tranquility, provide for the common defence, promote the general Welfare, and secure the Blessings of Liberty to ourselves and our Posterity, do ordain and establish this Constitution for the United States of America."
Upon assuming his office, our president raised his right hand and made the following promise to the citizens of America: "I do solemnly swear that I will faithfully execute the office of President of the United States, and will to the best of my ability, preserve, protect and defend the Constitution of the United States."
Likewise, every one of our U.S. senators took a similar oath upon assuming office: "I do solemnly swear (or affirm) that I will support and defend the Constitution of the United States against all enemies, foreign and domestic; that I will bear true faith and allegiance to the same; that I take this obligation freely, without any mental reservation or purpose of evasion; and that I will well and faithfully discharge the duties of the office on which I am about to enter: So help me God."
Legislating a path to citizenship for illegal aliens represents a violation of these oaths. Giving them citizenship will negatively impact the future of government in America. If these one-time fugitives become citizens, they will have not only the right to vote, but the power to run for and hold political office.
They will be eligible to serve in law enforcement, serve as judges and even work with classified material. They will be allowed to work with children in schools and day-care facilities. In spite of their criminal background, they will have the same rights as every other naturalized citizen in this country.
Well, Mr. President, exactly which clause of the Constitution are you preserving, protecting and defending by offering citizenship to illegal aliens? And how about you senators? Do you expect us to believe that providing citizenship to millions of international trespassers is in keeping with true faith and allegiance to the U.S. Constitution, which you swore to support and defend? Where is justice in your "comprehensive immigration reform act"? Do you honestly believe you are promoting the general welfare by circumventing our immigration laws and offering citizenship to millions of illegal immigrants? We think not.
In order to establish justice, we must enforce all existing immigration laws. To insure domestic tranquility, we must stop illegal immigration and control the flow of all immigrants. To provide for the common defense, we must secure our borders and strengthen our border patrol. To promote the general welfare, we must require proof of legal residency for all public services, including emergency health care and especially public education.
Now is not the time for new immigration legislation. In fact, there should never be a time for offering citizenship to illegal aliens. Granting citizenship to illegals is a slap in the face of every law-abiding American, especially those who have gone through the arduous process of naturalization.
Now is the time for "we the people" to hold our elected officials to their word. Now is the time for us to remind our president and our legislators that they are in our government and they work for us. Now is the time for us to defend the Constitution of the United States against all enemies, foreign and domestic, even if those enemies are in Washington.
Now is the time for "we the people" to secure the blessings of liberty to ourselves by standing firm in our sovereignty, as one nation, under God.
What we are is pissed off for a good reason. I know I am and if that makes me a bigot I will gladly take that title.

If average American citizens would take as strong of a stand as the illegals who marched on May 1st, we could convince our “leaders” that we do not want these criminals receiving citizenship in our country. We need to send a clear, vocal message to our elected officials that we will not allow this bill to be passed and that we will do everything in our power to remove those from office who are for illegals and against American citizens.
Go back and read mine...I’m not saying that Bush is solely to blame.
It simply answers the question about why people blame Bush. The fact that I, too, blame Bush doesn’t say that others aren’t a factor in the problem.
However, he IS the chief law enforcement official in the US, and if he had demanded that our borders be secured and that illegal invaders been prosecuted and deported when he took office this problem might not be the same proportion it is today.
Additionally, as president he SHOULD have been lobbying for new legislation to increase penalties on employers for hiring illegals and to deny illegals social services, and he should have been doing it for the past six years. That’s his job as our nation’s leader.
He has completely failed us on this problem. And while its not appropriate to blame him solely, it is appropriate to say that he rightfully gets a lot of the blame for the increase in the problem that has occurred on his watch.

This bill was DEFEATED by the Senate a couple of weeks ago.
What does El Presidente do?? He demands the Senate to go back and PASS IT! (Against the Will of his own Base and the American people).
Now, thinking "logically" mind you...How am I NOT supposed to blame Bush for this bill being resurrected from the dead? Hummm????

He is the major cheerleader for this horrid immigration bill. Yes, the Senate is complicit in this, basically being the Dems and a cadre of RINO’s, but it is Bush who came back from his European trip and resurrected this bad bill in the Senate. Bush is the instigator, not a passive observer as you make him out to be. You say this President couldn’t stop it? What a joke! He’s the main mover behind this immigration bill. However, I agree with the Freeper who said it is pointless to argue reality with a Bushbot. I thought it was close to 100,000 hectares sitting on top of one of the most pristine aquifers in the world. Jenna Bush spent a couple of weeks down there recently “conferring” with the President of Paraguay for the UN. The Moonies have a large rancho there as well close to the Bushies. It’s been reported in several SA newspapers but got NO coverage here. If I was the suspicious type I’d say someone was preparing to do a runner if things get hot. He’ll fit in well.
Maybe you’re the one that doesn’t “get it”. I expect it from congress. I DIDN’T expect this from Bush.
