Well, it was the greatest generation (an invention of the Lib Tom Brokaw) that brought us 70% top marginal tax rates, the postwar welfare state, and an overregulated economy. Not too surprising. The "Greatest Generation" was, on the whole, raised on the gospel according to St FDR. Given that we should be grateful that we didn't go completely Communist.
